To be recognised in six different categories on a national stage is something really special and a huge achievement for our club. After bringing home Best Committee last year, to be heading back to the awards on 26th November with this many nominations makes us unbelievably proud. 🏆

A very special thank you has to go to our wonderful Dawn Maria Bubb . ❤️ Dawn puts so much time, hard work and heart into Coombs Wood, often going above and beyond to keep everything running and make the club the welcoming place it is. To see her personally recognised as a finalist for Bar Manager/Steward is so well deserved, and we couldn’t be prouder of her. 🥰👏

We’re also incredibly proud of every member of our committee, staff, volunteers, cricket and bowls sections and all our members. These nominations are a reflection of what everyone contributes and of the fantastic community we have built together.

Our very own Millie Barnett captained Warwickshire in a national tape ball competition yesterday 🤩 Being one player short, she called up fellow Woodette Eden Cannings. Both made great contributions, Eden taking a wicket and hitting a 6 (on just 30 minutes’ sleep 😴) and Millie also taking a wicket and a catch 👏 Warwickshire came second overall, losing to Surrey in the final over.

Looking back at our u12s’ final game of the season: an impressive 16-run victory against Astwood Bank at the end of last month in a match that could only take place thanks to Banksy getting the ground ready after torrential rain 👌

Our lads batted first, scoring a par 145 for 7 in 20 overs. James top scored with an excellent 37 not out. Significant contributions also came from Ollie (27), including his first ever 6s in any format or age group, and Owain, who batted well again (16), and they were supported by Jacob, George, Yuvi B and Thomas who all made important contributions to the overall team total.

All our bowlers then did an excellent job, James and Jas kept it tight at the start, James picking up a wicket caught behind by Ollie. Josiah and Thomas maintained the consistency to limit scoring opportunities as first change bowlers, with Thomas taking an important wicket bowled. Yuvi B and George then took the baton to bowl well when the opposition were looking to accelerate, with Owain coming on to bowl towards the end picking up a wicket with a great boundary catch from James. There were also two run outs executed by Ollie in the final over, rounding off his solid keeping throughout.

What impressed most was our overall fielding performance, particularly our ground fielding, something we have been working hard on in training. Player of the match Josiah was a gazelle in the field, swooping to stop boundaries, making diving stops and demonstrating accurate throwing throughout the innings 👏

Well done also to Jas who had a quiet game by his standards but showed he is developing to be a good captain in leading the side to victory.

Thanks to all those who have scored and umpired this season and to parents and family members for getting the lads to the games and showing great support pitch side.

Well done to manager Stuart for leading the team through a fantastic season and to all the lads - there’s been some excellent cricket played, you should be proud of your achievements 🏏🤩
