Solid performance this morning. Clinical in the first half and out of sight at half time.
Disappointed with conceding a goal but priority was progressing in the cup.

Well done to our goalscorers Dylan and Jackson, and the boys who assisted, Ollie P Fred and Huss.

Here is what the boss had to say…

Fantastic from the first minute to the last. We asked the lads to respond to last week’s defeat with a positive attitude, and they did exactly that. The 5–0 scoreline was outstanding, but what pleased us coaches most was the clean sheet and the attitude of the boys who didn’t start. That’s the mentality we want: players keeping their place by performing, and players stepping in when we lose to show what they can do. Once again, all 16 contributed to a brilliant morning.

Delighted for Metin, who fully deserved his first clean sheet of the season. His outstanding double save at 1–0 was a genuinely pivotal moment, if that goes in, the whole game changes. Credit as well to the entire defensive unit. It’s not easy constantly hearing from us about the importance of not conceding, but they embraced that challenge and can be extremely proud of their efforts.

Congratulations to the goalscorers and assisters: Oshay and Jackson with two goals each, Dylan with his goal, and Jackson 2, Chris, Dan and Oshay providing the assists.

A special mention to Jackson and Jauade, who were constant threats going forward. But today’s player of the match goes to Oshay, who caused their back four problems all morning.

All in all, a really strong team performance, and we’re up and running for the season.

Telford United 5-0 Forest Falcons

Here is what the boss had to say…

Tough morning against a really good team. We asked the lads before the game to give their all, and that’s exactly what they did. We couldn’t have asked for any more. There are areas we can improve, and we’ll work on those in training. Our play from dead‑ball situations, especially free kicks, needs to be sharper, and we’ll focus on that on Wednesday. The running is done now; it’s time to concentrate on the finer details. The result didn’t come from a lack of effort, it came from not fully understanding key moments in the game, and that’s on us as coaches to make sure every detail is clearly explained.

Going forward, every decision we make as a coaching team will be fully explained to the lads. From who starts to who doesn’t, we’ll be completely transparent. Whether starting or coming off the bench, we need a joined‑up attitude and a togetherness in everything we do.

A few special mentions. Metin was fantastic in goal today, doing everything we asked of him. He’ll definitely have easier mornings, but he can be proud of what he produced. Ollie P came on at half‑time and delivered exactly the attitude and application we want. And Lewis gave his absolute all from the first minute to the last, as many of the lads did, but he stood out today with a brilliant performance.

And a new thing for this season: we’ll be announcing a Player of the Match every Saturday. Instead of a trophy that sits around for a week, they’ll receive a box of chocolates. Today’s Player of the Match goes to Lewis, outstanding from start to finish. Well done, mate. Your chocolates will be ready for Wednesday.

Just to finish, it’s important to remember what we’re aiming for this season. Games like today, against a side I think will finish in the top five, won’t define where we end up.

We stick together and go again next week.

Congratulations to another one of our Falcons lads stepping up to U18s football. Oshay becomes the second player from our U16s group to make the jump, marking his debut for Avery last night. Another brilliant example of the clear pathway we’re building for our lads to develop and reach their potential. Well done, Oshay - fully deserved.

Here is what the boss had to say…

Well, that’s pre‑season done and dusted, and unbeaten. Plenty to be pleased about today, and plenty we can still improve on. It’s a story I’ve told many times, but it really did feel like we gifted the opposition their three goals rather than them having to work hard for them.

The encouraging thing is that we’re improving all the time, in every area of our play. We look a constant threat going forward and we’ll always score goals. The lads should be extremely proud of the work they’ve put in over the summer; we’re a team that will be very competitive this season. The new lads have settled in brilliantly, and we’re already a stronger side than we were last year.

I reminded the lads after the game, and I’ll remind you parents as well, that we coaches are their biggest fans. Sometimes they take feedback as criticism, but everything we say is to help them grow, progress, and reach their potential.

A special mention to Dan for his goal and Oshay for his two goals. Also Oshay, Jackson and Dan for their assists - great contributions all round.

Telford away next week for our first league game of the season. Bring it on.

“Couldn’t be happier with both the result and the performance today. It was a really mature display from the lads against a very good, if at times petulant, opposition. For the most part, our boys stayed well clear of all the silly stuff and focused on playing football, which made the performance even more impressive.

We controlled the game from start to finish and fully deserved the win. Some of the football we played was excellent, and the goals were top‑class. Add to that a really solid defensive showing, with Metin pulling off several outstanding saves, and it was a brilliant all‑round team effort.

Congratulations to Oshay for his two goals, and to Dillon and Jackson for theirs. And well done to Jauade for his two assists - great contribution.”

Here is what the boss had to say…

Pleased with the result today and, overall, it was a decent performance. There’s still plenty to work on, though. I wasn’t overly keen on the second‑half display for a number of reasons - our focus and work rate dipped, largely because the lads got dragged into petty arguments with the opposition.

Still, there was a lot to like, and ultimately it’s another good result. We’ll work hard in training to put things right and build on the positives as we head into the season.

Congratulations to Jackson on his hat‑trick and Huss for his goal. Well done also to Oshay for his two assists, and to Finn and Callum for theirs.
