Ladies, have you ever trained one week and felt like an absolute machine then the next week you feel tired and weak?!
We have to take into account the hormone changes throughout the month that affect how we feel and respond to diet and exercise.

In the early stages of the menstrual cycle strength and motivation are high, this means it may be easier to train hard and stick to a more aggressive calorie deficit.
Compared to the later stages where more calories are welcome and training should be more gentle.

It’s useful to track your cycle if you have one, take note of how you feel and perform and adjust things going forwards 😊

“It’s just calories in vs calories out”
“you could eat McDonald’s all day and still lose weight as long as you’re in a deficit”
Sound familiar?

Both of these are kind of true, but there’s way more to it in my opinion.
Firstly, food that has been ultra processed is made to be highly palatable, usually high in fat, sugar, preservatives, additives etc. This means it’s so hard to eat a little bit and be satisfied. You’re still hungry because your body is craving nutrients. Countless studies have shown that when people eat highly processed food, they will consume 500 calories more per day compared to real food where people were likely to eat less than their recommended calorie intake.
On top of that, as a result of the lack of nutrients, you will be left feeling tired, low on energy, sluggish, poor sleep, blood sugar peaks and troughs to name a few 😅

This is not to say that these things cannot be included in your diet at all, but they should be minimal if you want to feel and perform optimally.
Instead try to use single food ingredients or foods with less than 5 ingredients.

If you can’t make it in your kitchen, try to avoid it where possible👌🏼👌🏼

Just move.
There are times when there needs to be structure and there are times when you just need to do something!
Many times I have tried to plan so much that I’ve ended up doing nothing!! Paralysis by analysis😵‍💫

This morning I didn’t have loads of time, so rolled out of bed, did 5 minutes cold water therapy, grabbed a coffee, and took the dogs for a walk. I did 8x 20 second sprints at various intervals, some uphill, some flat.
This is not a bragging post or anything like that, it’s just to show you that you can still do something productive even if the circumstances aren’t ‘perfect’. It’s always better than doing nothing at all, and sometimes you kill 2 birds with one stone! 🐶🏃🏽‍♀️

The ZMAG is a blend of magnesium, zinc, selenium and taurine. There are so many benefits to these that it would take all day to list them all. Magnesium is needed for literally 100’s of mechanisms in the body, so as a blanket benefit il say it helps maintain general health and well-being!

The Ad Reset is amazing!! It contains Rhodiola which has huge benefits on mental well-being, reduces anxiety and stress, increases mental capacity and has benefits to your physical performance too👍🏼 I find this particularly useful during times where I may be overwhelmed or anxious as well as periods of high training volume.

Sprints are a great tool to add to your training programme to help drop some unwanted body fat. Short, intense, effective and great if you’re short on time.

Why do I prioritise weight training over cardio for all my female clients?
To build muscle! Muscle is what keeps us strong, what sculpts our body’s, what gives us tone (hate that word!🤣), helps us burn more fat, and improves insulin sensitivity.
I think women especially underestimate how hard and how long it takes to add a decent amount of muscle, put it this way, you’re not going to lift small weights twice a week and look like Arnie a month later.
The goal with most females is to lose body fat, look more defined and feel stronger in day to day life. Lifting weights ticks all those boxes!
