The lineups are out for this weeks fixtures 🏏
The first Xl welcome Laughton Cricket Ground to Horsebridge rec hoping to continue their momentum.

The second Xl travel to Firle to face Lewes Priory looking to bounce back from last weeks defeat.

OTW- A.Miller, the anchor, played a great supporting role. He looks to keep pushing on that performance.

A.Harvey- was busy soaking up the Malta sun, can he bring the heat today?

The First XI welcomed Blackboys Cricket Club to Horsebridge Recreation Ground, hoping for back to back wins.
The skipper lost the toss and we were asked to field first.

A.Harvey (0-45 off 9) opened with P.Kirk (2-13 off 😎 and the pair bowled a tight first 10 overs restricting the batsmen to 13 runs. The first wicket came at 25-1 and Kirk got himself another in his next over. H.Hamzakoya (1-37 off 9) bowled well yet again and got himself a wicket too. Blackboys had started slow but looked to bring the attack back to our bowlers in the later overs. V.Rose (0-18 off 5), A.Miller (1-37 off 5) and C.Loveland (4-25 off 4) all bowled important overs keeping the run rate low and getting wickets too. A strong sixth wicket partnership of 67 runs saw the total reach 165. Loveland cleaned up in his final over bottling the hat trick but keeping Blackboys to a chase able total.

C.Loveland (32) opened with D.Williams (0) however an emphatic first over saw both Williams’ brothers out for nothing, M.Williams (0) and L.Harvey (19) entered at 1-2. An important 51 run partnership eased the pressure of the first over. But both batsmen fell with no damage to the scoreboard and at 52-4 the run chase looked long. H.Hamzakoya (8) was in at five whilst A.Harvey (83*) came in at six. The pair looked to start building a partnership before Hamzakoya was caught on the boundary. In came the anchor A.Miller (21). A beautiful 80 run partnership shifted momentum back towards Hellingly. Miller played an important part in supporting Harvey who attacked the bowlers and brought up his maiden 50. Sadly Miller was bowled with 27 runs needed off 14 overs remaining. B.Pye (12*) came in and continued to support. The pair saw the team over the line and the run chase was complete when Harvey smashed the ball away for four.

POTM- A.Harvey, an emphatic 83 off 58 balls it could only be one man. His first half-century coming in a crucial win.

OTW- H.Hamzakoya has been brilliant with both bat and ball so far this season and enjoyed his time at the crease last time round.
T.Copeland batted fantastically last weekend scoring his first Hellingly half- century.

The Second Xl hosted Willingdon at Horsebridge, looking to achieve back to back wins once again.

The Visitors won the toss on another blisteringly hot day and elected to put the hosts into the field.

J.Rose (2/28 off 😎 opened the bowling alongside T.Wickens (1/27 off 6) looking for a fast start in the heat. A.Miller (3/17 off 😎 took over from Rose bowling some incredible lines and took the game to the Willingdon batsmen. G.Asokan (22 off 6) bowled some good overs on his debut but couldn’t find a breakthrough. M.Smith (1/27 off 7) & A.Harvey (2/22 off 5) came into the attack and got their rewards from superb spells of bowling. Some defiant batting from Willingdon put on a total of 151/9 for the host to chase.

R.Coates (5) opened the batting alongside T.Copeland (69*) with the intent to attack the bowlers from the off. Coates unfortunately fell from a splendid delivery from the Willingdon opener, welcoming S.Munnery (71*) to the crease. What followed was a joy to watch. Copeland and Munnery each played a superb innings putting on a 118 run partnership to win the game in the 14th over.

POTM- with another devastating innings, paired with 3 catches behind the stumps, S.Munnery is this weeks player of the match.

The First XI travelled to Nutley to mark the start of the reverse fixtures.
The Skipper lost the toss and we were put into field.

Opening bowlers A.Harvey (1-28 off 9) and P.Kirk (2-33 off 9) made a quick start dismissing the top 3 batsmen with little runs to the scoreboard. Nutley fought back and a resilient fourth wicket partnership saw their score edge closer towards 100. V.Rose (1-44 off 3) eventually found the breakthrough at 102-4. A.Alosious (3-59 off 8 overs) joined in on the action and worked his way through the middle order. H.Hamzakoya (1-38 off 9) eventually got the wicket of the number 4 batsmen who put up a well earnt half-century. L.Harvey (0-16 off 2) finished off our bowling innings and was unlucky to not get a wicket to his name.

Openers C.Loveland (10) and D.Williams (9) began our run chase but were quickly bowled by the Nutley openers. In at three was M.Williams (83*) followed by L.Harvey (40) the pair steadied the ship from 32-2 to 105-3 a very impressive 83 run partnership which shifted momentum. L.Harvey fell short of his half-century and it was A.Harvey (24) who took his place. A.Harvey looked to score quick and brought the attack to the bowlers however he was caught at cover and made way for H.Hamzakoya (75*) at 134-4. The pair were lethal. A remarkable 109 run partnership led the way to victory. Both bats hit thunderous sixes and made their way to half-centuries. We had reached the required score with plenty of overs to spare.

POTM- M.Williams, steadied the ship at 32-2 and saw the team to victory with a remarkable display of batting. Hats off to his partner in crime H.Hamzakoya.

The First XI welcomed Herstmonceux Cricket Club to Horsebridge Recreation Ground.
The skipper won the toss and elected to bat first.

Openers D.Williams (28) and M.Williams (1) got off to a quick start hitting 20 runs within the first few overs. However quick wickets of M.Williams, A.Miller (0) and L.Harvey (2) left Hellingly 31-3. A.Rose (22) came in at five and made his attacking intent clear with some fast boundaries, he was stumped at 57-4 and the wickets of Williams and H.Hamzakoya (0) came with no damage to the scoreboard and at 57-6 Herstmonceux were well infront. A.Alosious (23) and B.Pye (54*) put on a superb 58 run partnership with some quality batting and big sixes, increasing our score to 115. A.Harvey (34*) came in at nine looking to continue the attacking intent Alosious had with a quick 34 off 24 balls. The pair put on an unbeaten 62 run partnership and in that saw Pye reach his 50.

Herstmonceux CC required 178

An early wicket at 12-1 from A.Harvey (2-27 off 9) put pressure immediately on the run chase. L.Harvey (0-11 off 2) bowled tidy but it was H.Hamzakoya (3-17 off 9) who got the second wicket at 40-2 both openers were gone. A third wicket partnership of 42 made it tricky for our bowlers to reapply the pressure however Hamzakoya found the breakthrough and A.Alosious (2-27 off 9) got a wicket too. Three wickets fell within quick succession and at 85-5 the bowlers were doing their jobs. Alosious and A.Harvey got another quick fire double at 96-6 and 96-7 the pressure was on the batsmen to chase this total down. P.Kirk (1-16 off 6) got himself into the book and a win was insight for Hellingly. The last two wickets fell due to some excellent fielding from the Harvey brothers both taking a brilliant catch each.

Both Hellingly sides are in action this weekend.
The First XI head to Heathfield Park Cricket Club looking to turn around a disappointing start to the season.
The Second XI welcome Polegate & Stone Cross Cc to Horsebridge Recreation Ground looking to put last week’s result behind them.

OTW- M.Williams wasn’t available last week but is back this week and can hopefully make a difference with the bat tomorrow.
J.Rose has been reliable with the ball keeping the run rate down and getting himself some wickets, can he continue that this weekend.

The 2s headed to Ringmer Cricket Club looking to properly kick start their season after a stop start beginning to the campaign.

Ringmer won the toss, putting Hellingly into bat to set a score.

T.Winsor(59*) and A.Scott (9) opened the batting with Scott falling first. T.Wickens (0) failed to work the scorers with J.O’Toole (1), O.Miller (9) and A.Hart (1) failing to stay with Winsor. S.Piper (19) batted nicely with Winsor to boost the score board in the right direction. A.Harvey (24) entered the game quickly scoring some big 6s before ultimately succumbing to the Ringmer attack. L.Harvey (0) provided good support to Winsor as he continued to score comfortable. M.Hayward (0) looked to also aid Winsor but was quickly bowled. J.Rose (4*) finished the innings off setting Ringmer a total of 143 to chase.

After a high scoring first over, Hellingly got themselves right into the game with a flurry of quick wickets from J.Rose (2/23 off 6) and O.Miller (1/36 off 8.1) left the game in the balance with Ringmer 34/3. However, the game soon got taken away from us, despite A.Scott (0/25 of 9), A.Harvey (0/32 off 5) and S.Piper (0/26 off 2) were left powerless after a superb individual batting performance from the Ringmer #5 scoring 100 with only 110 runs needed to win. The host ultimately caught the 2s comfortably in reply.

POTM- T.Winsor. Winsor batting superbly for the entire innings in difficult scoring conditions to reach his maiden 50 showing composure and talent.

The First XI welcomed the league leaders Sidley Cricket Club to Horsebridge.
The skipper lost the toss and we were put into field first.

A.Harvey (1-39 off 9) and P.Kirk (2-53 off 9) opened the bowling yet again however didn’t quite have the same effect they have had in recent weeks. Yet the pair did combine to find the breakthrough at 53-1. The second wicket came with a catch at gully and another wicket for P.Kirk. However a third wicket partnership of 74 runs yet again put the pressure back onto us but it was A.Alosious (1-53 off 9) who stopped that partnership and saw the end of the Sidley opener. A.Harvey came back into the attack and got the fourth wicket of the match however at 187-4 Sidley looked rather comfortable. In came H.Hamzakoya (3-20 off 5) the one to watch delivered a beautiful bowling attack to the Sidley batsmen and a double wicket maiden, which could’ve been a hat-trick. He had tore apart the middle order. Sidley 227-7. V.Rose (1-59 off 😎 got our last wicket of the innings.

C.Loveland (16) and A.Miller (0) opened our batting with the intent to score quick runs and put pressure on their bowlers. However the double wickets of A.Miller and D.Williams (0) saw the momentum put back on Sidley. C.Loveland was soon caught and that was three wickets in quick succession, Hellingly 17-3. B.Pye (8) and H.Hamzakoya (23) halted the Sidley momentum with some tidy batting playing sensible cricket. L.Harvey (9) came in at six and continued to tire the Sidley bowlers. A.Alosious (34) replaced H.Hamzakoya at 65-5 and looked to attack the bowlers and put on some quick runs for Hellingly. L.Harvey was later bowled and M.Loveland (1) came in but was bowled soon after. Hellingly 89-7. A.Harvey (30) came in at nine and built a 50 run partnership with A.Alosious, the pair looked solid and gave Hellingly a small lifeline. V.Rose (0) was bowled soon after the A.Alosious wicket. The final wicket was A.Harvey and P.Kirk (0*) was left with another not out.
