Members of Herstmonceux Bowls Club are delighted that the 2026 season is now well under way, with a busy programme of friendly fixtures, league matches and games in the Sussex County League already being enjoyed by players throughout the club.
The Club’s Open Day, held at the end of April, proved a tremendous success and resulted in eight new members joining, bringing total membership to nearly 50. The club continues to attract players of all ages and abilities, helped by its warm and friendly atmosphere both on and off the green.
Club evenings, normally held on Monday nights, have also been met with great enthusiasm. As a build-up to the forthcoming American Tournament season, members have been taking part in enjoyable skills development sessions, followed by informal discussions on green etiquette, teamwork and communication.
A photograph accompanying this article shows Club Chairman Richard seated on a brand-new garden bench alongside Jackie Peek. The bench was kindly donated to the club this year by Jackie and her father, Terry Everingham, in memory of Jean Everingham, Terry’s late wife and Jackie’s mother, who sadly passed away last year. Jean was a much-loved and stalwart member of the club for many years, and the bench will serve as a lasting tribute to her memory.
