There's certainly been hard work these last few months and that has resulted in some excellent performances and Personal Bests.
Kerry Williams has been working hard on her fitness over the Winter months and as a result has improved her 5km time from over 28 minutes, 6 months ago, to a new PB of 23.19 a couple of weeks ago. Then just for good measure, Kerry showed her versatility run a 1.52 half marathon at Brentwood last Sunday to take almost 6 minutes off her previous best. Incredibly, just 12 months ago she was struggling to run 400m at sub 10 minute pace!
Victoria Hiscock has been running at the highest level in her last two competitions, namely the English National Cross Country Champs at Parliament Hill on a very muddy and hilly 8km course to finish in a respectable 59th position out of 1000 ladies. Two weeks later as the reigning Essex cross country champion, Victoria was representing the Essex women's team at the CAU Inter County Champs at Prestwold Hall, Loughborough. Against the best senior athletes from the home nations, she finished a highly credible 58th place and was the first women home from Essex.
Finally, Roy Harwood has been in superb form as he build up to the Manchester marathon at the beginning of April. After his highest placings at cross country in the Essex League and South Essex league, he completed the Cambridge half marathon in a new Personal Best time of 1.23.18 to knock 3 minutes off his previous best. All roads now lead to the Manchester marathon and taper time!
