Another impressive piece of running by Victoria Hiscock on Saturday evening in the BMC Grand Prix at Sportscity Manchester saw her take almost 2 seconds off her PB set just 10 days earlier.
Her new mark now stands at 4.26.42 and despite the look on her face in the 2nd photo, she was really happy after the race!

There have been some excellent performances to report from the last month.

Back on the 16th April, Kerry Williams carried on her impressive form when she took 10 seconds off her Parkrun PB, and notched up an overall 5km PB taking part in the Hackney Marshes Parkrun. Top work Kerry 🙂

Starting with Sharon Johnson, who took part in the Rayleigh 10km (actually 6 miles) on the 8th May and finished in a time of 62.48. To show how far she has come in the last few months, this time was actually a faster pace than she ran for the Hockley Parkrun less than 2 months ago. Nice one Sharon!

Last weekend saw numerous athletes take part in the penultimate race of the South Essex xc league at Thorndon Park. There were plenty of top 10 and top 20 performances from the training group showing their adaptability to xc on hard ground. In fact I saw more cows on route than mud!

Finally on Wednesday this week, Victoria Hiscock competed in the BMC Gold Standard 1500m race at Watford. In her first race since a half marathon at the beginning of April, she showed a combination of speed and strength to clock an impressive PB in a time of 4.28.20 to take 6.7 seconds off her previous best and rank her 61st senior women in the UK at 1500m.

Another success story last weekend saw Sharon Johnson take a whopping 1m 54s off her Hockley Parkrun time from just 3 weeks earlier. In a short space of time working with me, she has already made great strides in her training and grown in confidence.

Keep up the good work Sharon!

Last Sunday saw two excellent performances from coached athletes.

First off, in the Reading half marathon Victoria Hiscock ran an excellent debut race at the distance to finish right on her target of 1.22, with an official time of 1.22.16. Running very even paced splits she kept her discipline in the early miles to finish strongly in her first road race further than 10km.

Secondly, Roy Harwood took on the Manchester marathon in cool, chilly conditions aiming for sub 3 hours. After four months of hard miles and daily dedication, which yielded a half marathon PB along the way, he executed his race plan perfectly to finish in 2.58.18 and celebrate a huge forty one minute PB.

Congratulations to you both, your hard work brought your success!

If anyone else would like their own individual training plan to achieve their goals, whatever form that may take, then please get in touch and I'll be very happy to help.

There's certainly been hard work these last few months and that has resulted in some excellent performances and Personal Bests.

Kerry Williams has been working hard on her fitness over the Winter months and as a result has improved her 5km time from over 28 minutes, 6 months ago, to a new PB of 23.19 a couple of weeks ago. Then just for good measure, Kerry showed her versatility run a 1.52 half marathon at Brentwood last Sunday to take almost 6 minutes off her previous best. Incredibly, just 12 months ago she was struggling to run 400m at sub 10 minute pace!

Victoria Hiscock has been running at the highest level in her last two competitions, namely the English National Cross Country Champs at Parliament Hill on a very muddy and hilly 8km course to finish in a respectable 59th position out of 1000 ladies. Two weeks later as the reigning Essex cross country champion, Victoria was representing the Essex women's team at the CAU Inter County Champs at Prestwold Hall, Loughborough. Against the best senior athletes from the home nations, she finished a highly credible 58th place and was the first women home from Essex.

Finally, Roy Harwood has been in superb form as he build up to the Manchester marathon at the beginning of April. After his highest placings at cross country in the Essex League and South Essex league, he completed the Cambridge half marathon in a new Personal Best time of 1.23.18 to knock 3 minutes off his previous best. All roads now lead to the Manchester marathon and taper time!

If you have goals you would like to achieve then please get in touch and I'll only be too happy to help set your training in a balanced way that get's results but works around your lifestyle and training needs.

If you would like to join the group of coached athletes currently training for their 2022 goals them please get in touch with me. Here's the first success story of the year.

It was a great start to the year for coached athlete Victoria Hiscock as she won the Senior Ladies Essex xc Champs at Gloucester Park today.
On a gruelling course she come home nearly half a minute ahead of the second place lady, and secured her place in the Essex ladies team for the UK inter counties xc Champs at Loughborough in March. Well done to everyone else who ran today in atrocious conditions... also known as proper xc conditions!
