π₯ Tyne 2 vs Abercorn
π
14th January | π Division 4
A tough opening fixture against a solid Abercorn side, with every match competitive and hard-fought.
π― Mike vs Bartek
A revenge match from earlier in the season β and a huge improvement from Mike. This one was tight all the way through, with long rallies and momentum swings on both sides. In the end, Bartek edged it 3β2, but a strong marker laid down by Mike for the weeks ahead.
πͺ Phoebe vs Mhairi
Back from injury and straight down to business. Phoebe showed no rust, dominating from the off and giving Mhairi no way in. A confident, composed 3β0 win and a big statement return.
π₯ Tom vs Calum
A slow start for Tom saw Calum race into a 2β0 lead. Once Tom found his rhythm, he took the third and pushed hard in the fourth, but Calum just edged it to close out the match 3β1.
βοΈ David vs Jamie
One of the matches of the night. High-quality squash throughout with both players trading excellent shots. At 1β1, the third was razor tight before Jamie sneaked it. In the fourth, a small slip opened the door and Jamie surged through with a run of nine straight points to take it 3β1.
π₯ Freya vs Rob
Freya took time to warm up and quickly found herself 2β0 down. After a reset β and some timely encouragement from Phoebe β she fought back brilliantly to level it at 2β2. In the decider, Rob punished a few high drops to take the match 3β2.
RESULT: Win for Abercorn β but no heads dropped. Every match was competitive, the effort was outstanding, and there were no giveaways. Plenty to be proud of. ππ

π Tyne 1 vs ESC 3
π
15th January | π Division 2
A challenging night against an extremely experienced ESC 3 side β widely tipped to be league winners this season.
Across the board, Tyne put in strong performances and made proper games of it. Most matches finished 3β0, but the scorelines donβt tell the full story.
Tommy came agonisingly close to pulling off an upset, losing all his games by the narrowest of margins. Unfortunately, breaking four rackets along the way didnβt exactly help his rhythmβ¦ πΎπ
The standout takeaway? Tyne competed hard, showed real quality in patches, and proved they can live with one of the strongest teams in the division. Valuable experience, solid confidence, and a benchmark set early doors.
