πŸ”₯ NEW LEAGUES. NEW SEASON. LET’S GO! πŸ”₯
A fresh start, fresh divisions, and two big nights of squash for Tyne as the new season got underway. Plenty of fight, plenty of positives, and a strong platform to build from. πŸ’ͺ🏸

βΈ»

πŸ’₯ Tyne 2 vs Abercorn
πŸ“… 14th January | πŸ† Division 4

A tough opening fixture against a solid Abercorn side, with every match competitive and hard-fought.

🎯 Mike vs Bartek
A revenge match from earlier in the season β€” and a huge improvement from Mike. This one was tight all the way through, with long rallies and momentum swings on both sides. In the end, Bartek edged it 3–2, but a strong marker laid down by Mike for the weeks ahead.

πŸ’ͺ Phoebe vs Mhairi
Back from injury and straight down to business. Phoebe showed no rust, dominating from the off and giving Mhairi no way in. A confident, composed 3–0 win and a big statement return.

πŸ”₯ Tom vs Calum
A slow start for Tom saw Calum race into a 2–0 lead. Once Tom found his rhythm, he took the third and pushed hard in the fourth, but Calum just edged it to close out the match 3–1.

βš”οΈ David vs Jamie
One of the matches of the night. High-quality squash throughout with both players trading excellent shots. At 1–1, the third was razor tight before Jamie sneaked it. In the fourth, a small slip opened the door and Jamie surged through with a run of nine straight points to take it 3–1.

πŸ’₯ Freya vs Rob
Freya took time to warm up and quickly found herself 2–0 down. After a reset β€” and some timely encouragement from Phoebe β€” she fought back brilliantly to level it at 2–2. In the decider, Rob punished a few high drops to take the match 3–2.

RESULT: Win for Abercorn β€” but no heads dropped. Every match was competitive, the effort was outstanding, and there were no giveaways. Plenty to be proud of. πŸ’›πŸ’™

βΈ»

πŸ† Tyne 1 vs ESC 3
πŸ“… 15th January | πŸ† Division 2

A challenging night against an extremely experienced ESC 3 side β€” widely tipped to be league winners this season.

Across the board, Tyne put in strong performances and made proper games of it. Most matches finished 3–0, but the scorelines don’t tell the full story.

Tommy came agonisingly close to pulling off an upset, losing all his games by the narrowest of margins. Unfortunately, breaking four rackets along the way didn’t exactly help his rhythm… πŸŽΎπŸ˜…

The standout takeaway? Tyne competed hard, showed real quality in patches, and proved they can live with one of the strongest teams in the division. Valuable experience, solid confidence, and a benchmark set early doors.

βΈ»

πŸ’›πŸ’™ Early days, but plenty to be excited about.
New leagues, new challenges β€” and Tyne are up for it. We go again! πŸš€

πŸ”₯ TYNE SQUASH – BIG MIDWEEK MOMENTUM! πŸ”₯

A huge week for the club as both teams were scheduled for action β€” and despite some twists, Tyne delivered strong performances, big points, and even bigger character on court! πŸ’›πŸ’™πŸΈ

βΈ»

πŸ† 1st Team vs Bridge of Allan 2 (Home – Rearranged Fixture)
A lively night at Tyne as the firsts stepped back on court in a crucial rescheduled match β€” and they did not disappoint!

🎩 Mike (No.3) vs Ross
Ross arrived as a bit of a mystery man, barely seen in EOS action over the last four years. He certainly wasn’t short on quality, and despite Mike scraping the first, he then gifted Ross a 6–0 head start in three straight games. Even β€œSavage Jr” couldn’t dig himself out of that one, finally slipping to a scrappy 3–1 defeat β€” ending his unbeaten run. Tough one, but plenty more fire to come from Mike.

⚑ Josh (No.4) vs Ellis Isaacs
On the other court, Josh came up against 13-year-old prodigy Ellis β€” and for the first time ever, Josh was the tallest player on court. At 2–2 the match hung in the balance, but Ellis turned the screw, moving Josh corner to corner with ruthless precision to take it 3–2. A serious young talent β€” remember the name.

πŸ’₯ Jamie (No.5) vs Sophie Thomas
Down 0–2 in matches, Jamie stepped up and took an absolute battering in the first game. Reset button hit.
Cue: Jamie doing what Jamie does β€” hitting the ball very hard. Especially on the serve. Sophie struggled to contain the pressure as Jamie powered to a 3–1 win to get Tyne on the board.

🎯 Billy (No.2) vs Martin Jack
Two players who love finishing rallies early β€” this one was always going to be sharp, attacking squash. Billy found just a couple more winners in each game and delivered a crucial 3–0 victory, levelling the tie and setting up the finale beautifully.

🧱 Richard (No.1) vs Ben Orr
Ben brought some serious shot-making to the court, but Richard was in full retriever mode β€” absorbing everything and winning the fitness battle over and over. A controlled 2–0 lead, a lapse in the third (15–6 to Ben), then a calm, clinical reset in the fourth saw Richard seal the match 3–1 and secure the team win.

FINAL SCORE: Tyne 15 – Bridge of Allan 8
A brilliant night that puts Tyne 1st back clear at the top of the division! πŸ’›πŸ’™

Massive shoutout to Callum for reffing two matches (legend), and to him and Phoebe for supporting.

βΈ»

πŸ’₯ 2nd Team vs Edinburgh Uni 2
This week’s fixture ended in a walkover win, with Edinburgh Uni unable to field a team β€” meaning bonus points to Tyne!

πŸ”΅ Super Scoreboard Live – Tyne 2 on the Road to Galashiels πŸ”΅

A tough night for Tyne 2 as we travelled to Gala to take on their strong first team. Plenty of effort, plenty of sweat, but Gala showed their quality across the board.

Match 1 – Tom vs Colin Woodward
Tom started brightly but Colin controlled the key rallies and kept the ball tight.
Scores: 15–7, 15–12, 15–7 – Gala.

Match 2 – Gordon vs Ian Laing
Gordon pushed hard in the early stages, but Ian’s accuracy and court coverage swung it Gala’s way.
Scores: 15–10, 15–12, 15–6 – Gala.

Match 3 – Graham vs Dan Boshoff
Graham fought for everything and staged a strong push in the third, but Dan stayed clinical.
Scores: 15–9, 15–3, 15–11 – Gala.

Match 4 – Mike vs Sam Collin
Sam came out sharp, and despite some gritty rallies, the Gala No.2 controlled the tempo.
Scores: 15–6, 15–5, 15–9 – Gala.

Match 5 – Josh vs Tony Elliot
Josh delivered the closest match of the night, pushing Tony to the wire in the third.
Scores: 15–9, 15–7, 15–13 – Gala.

⭐ Final Score: Gala 18 – Tyne 0 ⭐

A tough evening on the road, but the team left everything on court. We reset, regroup, and go again next week. Heads high, Tyne πŸ’›πŸ’™

πŸŽ‡ Super Scoreboard – Fireworks Edition πŸŽ†

Tyne 2 vs Dean 2

A night of sparks, smashes, and plenty of fireworks as Tyne 2 hosted Dean 2! πŸ’₯

Match 1 – Mike Brown (Jnr) vs Mark Palmer
Mike came in hoping to light up the court but fizzled early as Mark found his range, taking it 15–7, 15–10, 15–6. A tough one for Mike – more sparkler than rocket tonight. 3–0 Dean.

Match 2 – Josh vs Alex Gunn
Josh faced a towering opponent but played with pace, precision, and flair. After dropping the 2nd, he powered back with great movement and smart shot choices to win 15–10, 11–15, 15–12, 15–10. A cracking 3–1 win and fireworks from start to finish! πŸŽ‡

Match 3 – Graham vs Neil Alexander
Graham showed flashes of brilliance but just couldn’t find enough consistency early on. After losing the first two, he fought hard in the third, but Neil edged it 15–10, 15–7, 15–12. 3–0 Dean.

Match 4 – Tom vs Craig Ferrier
Now this was explosive squash! πŸ’£ Tom was sharp, clinical, and in total control – firing in slices and drops with style. A quick and classy 15–7, 15–4, 15–8 win. 3–0 Tyne.

Match 5 – Mike Brown (Snr) vs Richard Munro
The Bionic Man was back! πŸ€– After taking the first 15–12, Mike dropped a tight 13–15 second, then stormed ahead in the third. Unfortunately, Richard suffered a knee injury mid-rally and had to retire, giving Mike the win 3–1.

Final Score: Tyne 2 1️⃣2️⃣ – 8️⃣ Dean 2

A big bounce-back win for Tyne after last week’s stumble β€” we came out firing, shone bright, and finished with a bang! πŸ’›πŸ’™
Well played, team πŸ‘

πŸŽ™οΈ Super Scoreboard Live – Gameweek 4

This week Tyne 2 were on the road to face Dalgety Bay, in what turned out to be a scorcher – both on court and off πŸ₯΅

Match 1 – Gordon vs Chris Anderson
Gordon battled through the after-effects of a cold, taking the 2nd game 15–13 after adjusting his serve and drops beautifully. But Chris found his range and powered through to take it 3–1.

Match 2 – Mike Brown Jnr vs Neil Shepherd
Mike started strong, but a few costly errors at key points let Neil edge ahead in each game. Despite some lovely soft touches from Mike, Neil sealed it 3–0.

Match 3 – Tom vs Connor Crozier
A brilliant scrap from both players β€” trading rallies like prizefighters πŸ₯Š Tom took the first and third, but the heat took its toll, and Connor just edged the decider 15–8. A huge shift from Tom β€” left it all out there πŸ‘

Match 4 – Freya vs Steve Howie
Tough conditions with the court like a sauna, but Freya fought hard in every game, pushing Steve close in the second. Just not her night β€” 3–0 Dalgety.

Match 5 – Callum vs Allan Griffiths
Callum showed real fight, chasing everything and sweating buckets πŸ’¦ Despite some great rallies, consistency in the heat was tough, and Allan took it 3–0.

Final Score: Dalgety Bay 15 – Tyne 2 4

The heat played its part tonight, but every player gave everything β€” nothing left on court. Heads high, we regroup and go again next week πŸ’™πŸ’›
