Dear Members & Senseis. This year at Lyme Regis I have one fleece blanket which will be raffled to all who pre book the course this year. The raffle is free but you do have to pre book online to be entered for free.

Members who turn up on the day are welcome to enter the draw for the cost of £1 per number. Members who pre booked will be given one number for free but you are welcome to purchase more on the day for the cost of £1 per number.

We will do the raffle on Sunday. You will be allocated a number based on when you book. So if you were the first person to pre book you will be allocated number 1 and so on.

We will do the draw on Sunday using a random number generator. If you are only attending on Saturday and your number is the winner we will get the blanket to you.

Dear Sensei's, Students and Parents of England Wado-Kai. Please see below our poster for this year's Lyme Regis Course. Earlier this year we ran a survey online asking you all for feedback and from this information we have put together a new structure to our Lyme Regis Course.

Please read through as this year on Saturday it's a senior grade course for 4th Kyu (Full Purple) and above only. Then Sunday is a one day course for all students/grades with gradings as normal. We have also changed the start times to the course on both days.

We hope to see you all at the course. Booking online will be available soon.

Basic of karate
In the dojo, every detail carries meaning far beyond what the eye can see. 帯 (Obi) is not just a belt—it is a symbol of your journey, your discipline, and the responsibility you carry as you progress. Through 稽古 (Keiko), true training begins, not as simple repetition but as a lifelong commitment to sharpening both body and mind. This is reinforced by 反復 (Hanpuku), where techniques are repeated again and again until they become natural, effortless, and part of who you are. Your 姿勢 (Shisei) reflects this inner discipline—your posture shows your readiness, confidence, and respect even before you move. When facing another, 組手 (Kumite) teaches control, awareness, and mutual respect, reminding you that power must always be guided by discipline. In contrast, 型 (Kata) is where precision and focus are perfected in structured form, preserving the essence of the art. All of this is guided through 指導 (Shidō), the instruction that shapes your path, demanding humility and openness to learn. And above all, 禁止 (Kinshi) stands as a silent boundary—reminding every martial artist that without respect, control, and discipline, technique loses its true purpose.
