Before kick off, both teams held a minutes silence in remembrance of Queen Elizabeth II.

Park Barn started the game on the front foot, winning a lot of the early duels and passing the ball around well.

It was in the 22nd minute that the away team took the lead, with a rejuvenated Edan Smith finding space on the edge of the area, hitting the ball with the outside of the boot finding the top right hand corner.

10 minutes after going 1-0 up, the lead was doubled by Connor Pearce, starting his first full season as manager, sees an opportunity to shoot from outside the box, not to be outdone by his strike partner, unleashes a shot on the turn to put his side 2-0 up.

HT 0-2

In a scrappy start to the second half, it was very much the home team on top. And it didn’t take them long to pull a goal back, 1-2.

The last 20 minutes was end to end, with both sides missing good chances. However, it was Park Barn who held on to start the season off with a win!!

Big shoutout goes to Jake Eichen, Nathan Wright and Keegan Bischof who all looked assured on their league debuts for the club.


Player of the match could have went to a host of players, but in the end it was agreed on being shared by Edan and Keegan.

Let’s hope for same again next week when Park Barn travel to Milford.

FIRST GAME OF THE SEASON

Park Barn are back in action this Sunday for the first game of the Surrey & Hants Border League 2022/23 season.

After last weeks delayed game, Park Barn will travel to Byfleet Town Reserves as they hope to start the season off with a win!

Park Barn were back in league action on Sunday and it was back to winning ways against Abbey Rangers 3-2.

In a very good 1st half in which Park Barn were very much on top, it wasn't until the 20th minute that the home team took the lead. Callum picking out Lewis from a corner on the edge of the area, hitting it first time on the volley to put the home team 1-0 up. A goal of the season contender.

5 minutes after taking the lead, Ethan, at full stretch, pulled off a world class fingertip save to keep the home team in front.

It was in the 40th minute when Park Barn doubled their lead, with Liddicott scoring his second of the game with a great solo goal and another contenter for goal of the season!

HT 2-0

The second half started very much like the first, with Park Barn on top.
It wasn't until the 60th minute when Edan scored to make it 3-0, rounding the keeper and slotting the ball home confidently.
It was looking like it was going to be a comfortable wil for the home team, Abbey Rangers scored two very late goals(one a penalty) to make a nervous end to the game.

Park Barn did hold on to take the victory in our first league game of 2022.

That victory keeps Park Barn in second place with 4 games of the season left.

Man of the Match was voted for by the supporters, with a few names in the running (Dan, Callum, Kieran, Lewis) they went with the man that scored 2, Lewis Liddicott.

Park Barn's first game of 2022 ended in defeat to table topping Viginia Water in the first round of the Prince Albert Cup.

In what was a very even first half, with Park Barn having the best of the chances early on, it was Virginia Water who took the lead in the 40th minute.
The lead didn't last long, as 4 minutes later Dan Boyce(mom) scoring a deserved equalizer just before half time.

HT 1-1

The second half started very much like the first, with the game being very even.
It wasn't until the 60th minute when Virginia Water took the lead to make it 1-2.
After that goal, the away team were very much on top and scored 2 goals in quick succession to make it 1-4, leaving the home team a mountain to climb.
There was a bit of a scuffle towards the end of the game following Connor's late challenge resulting in him getting a red card.
Virginia Water scored a late 5th to make it 1-5 to the away team.

Alot of positives to take into the next game the Sunday.
