Quick update from Saturdays open on Island Messy. Turned up a bit late had peg 25 which was good for me as never drawn that end of the pond. Following on from the recent festival knew it would be hard. Set up the bomb and pellet rods, spoke to couple of the regulars for areas to cast, had no bites for the first hour, fish where showing and coming to bait however not really interested in the 8mm pellet offerings. Looking up the bank no one was catching, a few anglers packed up. I did snare a few, but nothing really took off. So the day was about practising casting and catapult practice, so not wasted. Days like these help focus on areas, and allow for understanding where those who did catch were fishing. Did have a laugh and got to see the slow sinking bomb demonstrated by SG π. Stayed the duration, tipped back so to speed results for who bagged.
Had a quick visit to Lindholme yesterday, Laurels peg 19 was home for a couple of hours, pole came out fished across till wind stopped play, top kit plus short 3 for a nice day's fishing, the clunking line got better fed micros through pot , fishery 6mms but hand. Rotated between 6s & 8s everything that swam got caught some stonking flying skimbobs and the odd bonus carp too. Time to clean and prep the gear, no other qualifiers this year, George at Messingham has released dates for the epic winter series which I'm really looking forward too. 1 week to go before holidays the countdown has begun π
