Grimsby Corinthians Official Walking Football Club 50+ Reds report care of Keith Gooding

First game was Boston Utd and Corinthians started well and worked the ball to Shaun Holgeth but the Boston keeper made a great save to keep the score level. Boston eventually took the lead when a deflected shot beat Kev Holberry in the Corinthians goal. Boston kept the ball well after taking the lead forcing Corinthians into four running offences and a penalty. Kev made a great save but a 1-0 defeat was the final score.
Second game was Lincoln Invictus another well established premier league team. Corinthians started strongly and were soon in front when Gazza Gingerbread Moore turned sharply and confidently finished with a great shot. Corinthians continued to probe and early in the second half Chris Goodall doubled the lead with a neat finish. Mike Bean added a third as Corinthians controlled the game. With the game won Corinthians started to get sloppy and gave away another four run penalty, this one was dispatched giving Corinthians a 3-1 victory.
The third game was Gainsborough Trinity and a great finish from Mike Bean gave Corinthians an early lead. Gainsborough are a quality,experienced team and soon equalised. After that it was a possession as Gainsborough capitalised on every Corinthians mistake, with some superb finishing and ran out 6-1 winners. Although they didn’t give up or lose heart Corinthians will need to improve their communication and composure as the season evolves. Kev Holberry was in superb form and didn’t deserve to be beaten eight times during the day.
So the season starts with a win and two defeats as they try to get used to a step up in quality.
