Grimsby and District Junior Snooker Academy

👏 Another brilliant turnout today, with 15 juniors attending the academy session, all eager to learn, improve, and develop their snooker skills! 🙌😁

We started by going back to basics, focusing on grip, hand position, and posture on the shot . With a few simple tweaks for many of the juniors, they could immediately see the benefits and understand the reasoning behind the changes 💡👌. It’s always fantastic when a junior fully takes on board what we’re coaching and understands why it matters 👏🧠.

We then worked through a few routines to explore and reinforce these adjustments 🔄 before moving on to our usual matchplay sessions ⚫🔴. It was great to see the juniors putting the changes into practice and realising that small adjustments can have a huge impact 📈💪.

A thoroughly productive session for everyone, with plenty of learning, improvement, and enjoyment along the way 😊👍.

It was also great to welcome back a few newer juniors who are now fully involved and loving their snooker journey ❤️. Seeing their confidence and enthusiasm grow each week is brilliant to watch 🌟🙌.

I’m incredibly proud of you all for the commitment, effort, enthusiasm, and positive attitude you bring every single week 👏🔥💯. Keep working hard, keep enjoying the process, and keep believing in yourselves! 💪⭐

🌟 Another fantastic Academy session yesterday with 14 enthusiastic juniors taking part and continuing to develop their snooker skills! 🌟

We’re delighted to now have a World Snooker Level 2 Accredited Coach on our coaching team 👏🏆, with another two coaches currently working towards their Level 2 and Level 1 coaching qualifications 📚🎓. The Academy really is going from strength to strength! 💪🔥

As always, the session began with a variety of practice routines aimed at improving key areas of the game before finishing with some match play 🏅, giving the juniors the chance to put their skills into action and show what they’ve been learning. 👌🙌

It was also great to welcome two new juniors to the Academy 😊👋. They both showed fantastic enthusiasm, a great attitude to learning, and plenty of potential ⭐💫. Best of all, they told us they’ll definitely be back next week! 😃🎉

A huge thank you to our brilliant coaching team 👏❤️ for all their hard work, dedication, and support. These sessions wouldn’t be possible without you! 🙏

Just as importantly, credit must go to all of our juniors 👏. Your commitment, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn continue to make the Academy such a success. 🌟💚

Fantastic to see our Grimsby ‘Pro’ getting straight back on the tour !! Congratulations Stuart Carrington from all at The Academy!!

After missing the first event last week with a back injury, he made the most of his one shot with a 4-1 win over Yaron Bodor.

🎱 After last week’s superb display in U18 Grimsby & District Championship, it was back to academy training this week, with 13 juniors attending and putting in the important practice.

👏 Their turnout shows the commitment our juniors are making to improving their game and highlights the importance of practice, not just match play.

☀️ On a hot day, we started the session with break-building exercises and work around the black spot before finishing with some friendly handicapped matches. It was fantastic to see all the juniors pushing one another forward, supporting each other, and enjoying the game together.

🤝 There are no rivalries here – just friendship, encouragement, and a shared love of snooker ❤️🎱

📢 We also have some exciting announcements in the pipeline, which we hope to share soon once all the T’s are crossed and the I’s are dotted. Watch this space! 👀

🌟 The future of junior snooker in our area is looking very bright, and we’re proud to be helping the next generation develop both on and off the table. 💚

🎱 Yesterday saw the Grimsby & District U18 Championship, with 🔟 of our academy juniors competing — and what a day it was! 👏🔥

🏆 Huge congratulations to Harry Newby, who finally got his hands on the trophy after reaching the final 3️⃣ times in 4️⃣ years! Harry came through a brilliant, closely fought final against Noah Cuthbert, winning 4️⃣-3️⃣ in a fantastic match between two of our most experienced juniors 🎱💥

👏 Well done also to Jack Newby and 2025 champion Ethan Hornigold for reaching the semi-finals 💪 Ethan’s defeat to good friend Noah ended an incredible 4️⃣-year unbeaten run in the competition and guaranteed a new name on the trophy this year 🏅🔥

💥 A massive achievement for the academy overall, with 6️⃣ of our juniors making up the 8️⃣ quarter-finalists 👏 as well as one of our juniors winning every group in the competition 💯

🎯 Special mention goes to Ethan Hornigold for claiming the highest break prize with superb scoring throughout the day, including breaks of 6️⃣5️⃣, 4️⃣8️⃣, 4️⃣6️⃣ and 4️⃣1️⃣ 🔥👏

👏 Another quick mention to Oli Dee, who topped his group in his very first U18 tournament 🌟 as well as Ryan Clough, who played some outstanding snooker despite being drawn in a very tough group 💪🎱 Both are improving rapidly 📈🔥

❤️ The Academy is immensely proud of every single one of you — a fantastic day and a brilliant reflection of all the hard work being put in 👏🎱🏆🔥
