Today we headed to Epworth for our latest tournament, and despite the results not quite going our way, there were plenty of positives to take from the day.
Game 1: A brilliant start from the boys. We moved the ball well, scored some excellent goals and showed great desire throughout. An unfortunate error denied us a clean sheet.
Game 2: Another positive performance. We pressed high, stayed aggressive and played on the front foot, but unfortunately came away on the wrong side of the result.
Game 3: The lads continued to battle for every ball and showed great commitment, but unfortunately the result didn't go our way.
Game 4: A hard fought 0-0 draw against a local side. The boys worked tirelessly and competed brilliantly throughout.
Game 5: Knowing only a win would be enough, the boys produced arguably their best performance of the day. The game was played almost entirely in the opposition's half and despite creating chance after chance, we somehow couldn't find the back of the net. The match ended in a draw, and unfortunately that wasn't enough to see us through.
We're still scratching our heads as to how we can play so well across a tournament and come away with nothing to show for it. What we can never question is the desire, passion and commitment the boys showed all day.
