The 1st XI fell to a disappointing defeat at the hands of Helensburgh on Saturday, losing by 43 runs. Having inserted the opposition, they would have been quite happy to take wickets at regular intervals but from 87 for 6, the visitors managed to reach 153 before being dismissed, the last 2 wickets putting on 39 runs. The 1st XI's reply followed a similar course but their lower order batsmen were unable to replicate what Helensburgh's had done and they subsided to 110 all out, a defeat which leaves them perilously placed in 8th place in the league table.

The Glenpark XI suffered a heavy defeat from Anniesland, losing by 115 runs in a match reduced to 35 overs per side. Anniesland made 142 for 7 in their innings, the highlight from Glenpark's point of view being Dave Sharma's 1 for 7 from 7 testing overs. There were no highlights in the Glenpark reply as they were bowled out for just 27, accumulated in almost 15 overs.

The 1st XI are at home on Saturday, hoping for better luck with the weather this week, when they take on Helensburgh, another side like them contesting the positions near the foot of the table. A welcome addition to the side is Sean Fischer-Keogh who has been away in Edinburgh at university for the past few seasons. The game starts at the usual time of 12 noon.

The Glenpark XI are away on Saturday in Glasgow to take on Anniesland, Glasgow Accies' second string, still looking for that elusive first league win. Likely to field a stronger side this week, they will fancy their chances this time.

On Sunday, the Hillend XI will welcome Drumpellier to Glenpark for a Sunday League fixture and having overcome Ayr last Sunday will look for a continuation of that form. The game starts at 1pm.

Good luck guys.

We're going to Leighton Buzzard
And we're not going to our beds!!

Our Club song when we went on tour to Bedfordshire way back in the mid eighties. Myself, Kenny Godsman and I believe big Moorey formed the dangerous triumvirate.

Come along and see Graeme 'Magoo' McGill play covers from The Beatles, Stones, Kinks and The Who etc.

Due to high demand, entry will be strictly limited to Members and invited guests. Hope to see you supporting the Club on July 18th.

Bill Lochhead - updated with funeral details.

Members would have been extremely sad to learn of the recent passing of Bill Lochhead, a long-standing member of the Club. Bill always showed a deep interest in the fortunes of the Club and its teams and he will be sadly missed by all who knew him. A larger than life presence, he will remain long in the memory of all club members. Our deepest condolences go to Rona and all his family and friends.

Bill's funeral will take place at Greenock Crematorium on Thursday 18th June at 12 noon to which all his friends are warmly invited. The family wishes all who attend to feel free to wear colourful clothing to remember Bill's life.

The 1st XI are off on their travels again this week when they play Hillhead at Hughenden in a fixture that has great importance for both teams, given that defeat will place the losing team firmly in the relegation picture. The team will certainly be stronger than last week, although still not at full strength, and this should give them confidence for the match. The game starts at the usual time of 12 noon.

The Glenpark XI are at home on Saturday when they play Hillhead 2, still searching for that elusive first league win. They will at least be fielding a stronger team than last weekend and with home advantage will be confident of success in a match that will start, as usual, at 12 noon.

On Sunday, the Hillend XI will welcome Ayr to Glenpark for a Sunday League fixture. Hillend have not had much luck with the weather so far this season but the forecast is more promising this week. The game starts at 1pm.

The 1st XI, fresh from their exciting win over Stirling County last weekend, welcome Kilmarnock to Glenpark for what will be a difficult game for A***n Sanghera's team. Kilmarnock currently sit fourth in Premiership Two, having won 4 of their 5 fixtures to date and are therefore pushing for promotion. They have considerably strengthened their team this season with proven match-winners and only the 1st XI's best will see them to victory. The game starts at the usual time of 12 noon.

The Glenpark XI are still looking for their first win of the season. Their next match is on Saturday against Mearns Challengers at Bellahouston and their opponents will be a tough team to beat as they currently sit in second place in Championship Two. Availability issues again seem likely to be a problem for skipper Eddie Ahmad but the selected team will no doubt do their level best to achieve a positive result. The game starts at 12 noon.

On Sunday, the Hillend XI travel through to Larbert to take on Stenhousemuir in a Sunday League Division One encounter, starting at 1pm.
