Boogie Bugs was founded in September 2017 by myself Lynette Beaton, having graduated from The Royal Conservatoire Scotland in 2012 and working locally as a secondary music teacher. After returning from a year abroad working in Australia, where I had been working in nurseries across Sydney and Melbourne for award winning company 'Boppin' Babies,' I will be ever grateful to Vicky Abad the founder of
the company for taking me under her wing and showing me what a wonderful job making music with little ones can be, I had found a new passion in working with families and little ones and decided I wanted to continue. Having started Prominence Academy of Performing Arts in 2015 I set out to develop Boogie Bugs for aged 0-3yrs as part of our Academy and haven't looked back. This year has been incredible and we have had a fantastic team of little ones, mums, dads, parents, grandparents coming our weekly classes and developing a very close community group in the Lyle Kirk on Newark Street. Our classes aim to promote and stimulate development through making music, singing, movement, playing instruments and providing opportunities for unforgettable family bonding time with little ones. Watching our little boogie bugs grow from tiny babies to not so little toddlers, full of confidence, leading their learning opportunities (sometimes even telling me just how they want the session to run!) has been incredible and I have felt privileged to have been a part of their lives so far. We are excited to be branching out this year, running more classes and working with difference types of groups and seeing where the next session takes us!
