On Saturday we played Athena in the league plate. The first 25 minutes were pretty even with both teams creating a couple of chances but unable to make any of them count. Just after the half hour mark May showed great desire to play to the whistle and keep the ball in play when the Athena girls thought it was going out for a corner. May collected the ball at the bye line and played it into Alexis who calmly finished past the keeper. As the half came to and end we pushed for a second and deservedly took a 2-0 lead into halftime when Alexis pressed well against the Athena defender to steal the ball and finished nicely into the corner. Second half started and our girls never really got going. We were sitting deeper and deeper and Athena got a well deserved goal to make it 2-1. Athena pressed for an equaliser but then Alexis rounded off her hatrick with a lovely finish into the corner after a great ball over the top from Holly Mitchell. At that point it looked like we would go on and win, but fair play to Athena who stuck at it and scored a couple of quick goals to make it 3-3. With the game in the balance Morton stole the ball up high again from good pressing by Alexis and Orlagh. The ball was played through Ava who put it away with a lovely finish. Potentially the defining moment came with about 15 minutes left when May broke though and was rushing into the box one on one with the keeper when the Athena defender pulled her back. Had we scored and gone 5-3 up I think that would been too much for Athen to claw back, however Athena then scored an equaliser with 10 minutes left on the clock. A scuffed shot down low that Cassie did well to get down to get a hand to, but it trundled agonisingly into the bottom corner.

Onto penalties we went. A first experience for most, if not all of our girls. The girls showed great character to put themselves forward to take the penalties. After 5 penalties it was 3-3. Some brilliant penalties from the girls and two brilliant saves from Cassie. We all know penalty shootouts are a lottery, and unfortunately we missed our 6th penalty and Athena scored theirs to progress to the next round.

It was really tough way for the girls to lose a game in which they gave so much and could, and perhaps should have won in 70 minutes

All good experience and weโ€™ll go again next week.

Today we travelled to play Finnart who had won their first 4 matches and sat top of the league. What was always going to be a tough match was made even tougher when we arrived to find we were playing on grass. The girls took a wee while to settle and went 1-0 down when Finnart scored from a nice volley direct from a corner. It would have been easy to crumble at that point but the girls regrouped and battled well through the rest of the first half. Both teams had a couple of opportunities to score, particularly May coming in from the right and Hollie J from the left. The second half started pretty much like the first half (even though we started the second half with only 10 players ๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿคฃ). We grew into the game and May was getting a lot of joy down the right hand side, however a really scrappy goal from a corner and a nice finish from the Finnart winger quickly made it 3-0. Again it would have been been easy to throw the towel in but the girls kept going and got their reward when Boston broke through from midfield and calmly slotted past the keeper. The girls kept pushing and could perhaps have nicked a 2nd to make it an interesting finish, however it wasnโ€™t to be and Finnart broke with a nice through ball which was nicely finished by their striker. All the girls worked really hard in tough warm conditions and the U12 girls that came in to help did brilliantly. That could be one of the toughest games we have this season, so weโ€™ll get back to training on Monday and try get back to winning ways in our next match. The ref awarded the player of the match to Boston ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐ŸปEnjoy the rest of your weekeend. Cheers Jonny

The U14s Girls made the journey to Glasgow with a very bare bones squad thanks to injuries which seem to have wiped out half our squad over the past few months.

From the first whistle we could see it was going to be a challenging game, especially in the middle of the park as the opposition had a really strong technical midfielder in their squad. We went 2 goals down quite early in the game but after this, our nerves started to settle and the girls managed to get a better grasp on the game.

May was first up on the scoresheet for our girls with an excellent goal to bring us back into the game, however JSCC fired back with another goal soon after to send us into the break 3-1 down. Shoutout to Cassie who managed to keep the scoreline down in this half and was having a good game despite playing with a sore ankle (another injury...๐Ÿซฃ๐Ÿ˜…)

We had a quick chat at halftime and switched our tactics up a bit and then the girls came out flying in the second half. Our second goal of the game was a product of some excellent wing play from May, she drove the ball all the way to opposition corner then whipped the ball in to the back post to find Aaliyah who had read the play excellently and put it past the keeper and kick-start a fire under the Morton team.
The girls were relentless with the high press and did extremely well to s***f out any attacking play from the opposition.
Alexis was next up on the scoresheet, Hollie C made an excellent pass up the pitch which was collected by Alexis outside the box, she drove towards goal and smashed it past the keeper to bring us level.
The girls werent done there though, another excellent ball up the park from Alexis found Aimee and she made no mistakes as she scored the goal that gave us the lead.
After putting in a superb shift in the second half, the opposition managed to capitalise on our tired legs and were in all out attack mode. Our defence were excellent as was Cassie in goal at keeping them at bay and keep us in the lead but it was only a matter of time before the ball fell favourably to their midfielder that had been giving us problems all game and she fired it high and out of reach of Cassie to bring the game level with only a couple of minutes to spare. The game ultimately ended a 4-4 draw which is a result that the girls can certainly hold their heads high with!

A slower start to the game but an absolutely superb second half from our girls. To go from 3-1 down to leading 4-3 is no easy feat and they should be extremely proud of the hard work and effort they displayed on Friday night!

3 in 3 with no defeats, lets keep pushing girls, and excellent start to the season ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Another excellent fixture for our U14s Girls this weekend as we welcomed Athena Greens to the Battery Park for their second League Fixture of their 2026 Season.

The girls got off to a quick start and did well to keep the ball up in the oppositions end of the pitch, all 3 of our goals coming in the first half.
First up on the scoresheet was Orlagh, after coming close just minutes before she made no mistakes when her chance came around again as she tucked the ball neatly in past the near post.
Next up on the scoresheet was Ruby who took the ball on an excellent run in from the left wing, taking it past two defenders and then the goalkeeper and was free to send it home to make it 2-0.
Our final goal of the day came from a nice little bit of passing play between striker and midfield. Aimee received the ball on the edge of the box and passes it to Indie, who then nicely lays it off past the defence into the path of Aimee once again who blasts it out of reach of the keeper to give us the 3 goal advantage going into the break.

The second half was a bit more back and forward as our girls started to tire but there was certainly no lack of effort from them! The defence worked extremely hard in this half to keep the Athena attacks at bay however they did manage to capitalise on one of these attacks and pull a goal back. Ultimately though, the game ended a 3-1 victory for the girls in Blue and White!

Another excellent performance from our girls that they should be extremely proud of, they worked tirelessly and despite the heat and a couple of injuries they managed to dig deep and come up with another brilliant win that has them sitting in a comfortable place in the league table.

The girls travelled to Milngavie yesterday to play Phoenix Orange who had beaten us 2-1 at Clydeview in one of our grading games. The girls played fantastically well in really warm conditions. The squad was down to the bare bones due to injury so we drafted in Alexis, Isla and Evie from the U12โ€™s and even at that we found ourselves playing most of the second half with no subs due to further injuries. Phoenix dominated the early part of the game without really creating much and the probably against the run of play Alexis went on a fantastic run and scored a brilliant goal to put us 1-0 ahead. It was a fairly even first half and looked like it would be 1-0 at the break but Phoenix score with a couple of minutes left to make it 1-1. Fair play to our girls, they didnโ€™t let there head drop and Alexis scored again with the last kick of the half to send us into the break leading 2-1. Second half we started the better team and really pressed from he front. We encourage the girls to press early at Phoenix goal kicks and we got our reward when we won the ball back and Alexis completed her hatrick to make it 3-1. As the game went on our girls tired and Phoenix continued to rotate their 5 subs. Finally it told and Phoenix scored a belter from long range to beat Cassie. It could have been worse but for one fantastic save from Cassie. The girls dug in brilliantly for the last 10 minutes and managed to see it out and come away with a brilliant 3-2 win. Every girl should be so proud of their contribution yesterday, it was a real team effort. Given it was our first game in about 7 weeks it was an even better result. Thanks as always to the parents for your support ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป and massive thanks to the U12 girls for helping out. Played 1 won 1. Great start to the season, long may it continue ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

Morton in the Community - Girls Under 14s, based in Inverclyde, are looking to strengthen their team for the 2026 Season with the addition of two or three players.

If your Girl is born 2012 - 2014 and interested in playing in the highly competitive SWF West U14s Brogan Hay League this season then please get in touch!

What we are Looking for:

โ€ข Previous Footballing Experience Preferable
โ€ข Outfield Positions Preferable

What We Provide:

โ€ข 2x On-pitch Training Sessions per Week (Monday & Wednesday)

Massive congratulations to our incredible Wonder Women for nerves of steel and barrels of belief and perseverance! A late equaliser from Queen Karmyn took the game straight to penalties! Two saves from Marvellous Millie ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ and some superb penalties brought the title home to NDHS! Congratulations, girls! ๐Ÿฅณ
