Defeat on the road.

Radcliffe Deaf FC concluded their season with their best performance of the season despite a narrow 1-0 defeat to Derby Deaf, with the visitors holding the same advantage at half-time.

The scoreline doesn’t fully reflect the determination and structure shown by Radcliffe throughout the match. Defensively, the team were organised and disciplined, frustrating Derby for long periods and restricting them to only a handful of half chances. The only clear opportunity Derby created in the second half came from the penalty spot, which they failed to convert.

At the other end, Radcliffe showed real intent and growth, creating several promising opportunities of their own. The attacking play in particular highlighted the progress made in recent weeks, with passages of composed, attractive football beginning to come together as worked on in training.

The second half saw Radcliffe grow in confidence, matching Derby across the pitch and, at times, looking the more likely side to find the next goal. It was a performance full of resilience, effort, and belief - hallmarks of a team moving in the right direction.

This match serves as a positive way to close the season, with every player showing bravery, desire, and passion for the badge.

Man of the Match honours go jointly to Connor and Rhys, who were outstanding at the back. Their last-ditch defending and commitment epitomised the true Radcliffe spirit and played a crucial role in keeping the contest so tight. A well deserved drink awaited the lads after the match, and we wish them all a safe journey home back. Thank you to Derby for hosting us 🀝🏻
