Meet Roger. ✨
At 81 years young, Roger is our eldest competitor at The Dance Base and recently achieved a fantastic Highly Commended result in his NATD Ballroom & Latin examinations.
What makes this achievement even more remarkable is that Roger only started dancing around 18 months ago.
Since then, he has embraced every opportunity that has come his way. He’s travelled the country competing in Ballroom & Latin competitions, stepped onto some of the most prestigious dance floors in the UK, and even achieved the incredible feat of becoming a finalist at the Blackpool Grand Finals in the world-famous Winter Gardens.
But Roger’s story goes far beyond dance.
Following a stroke, Roger faced the challenge of having to learn how to walk again. Many people would have seen that as the end of a chapter. Roger chose to write a new one.
Through determination, resilience and a wonderful attitude towards life, he not only regained his mobility but discovered a passion for dancing. Today, he continues to grow in confidence, learn new skills and inspire everyone around him.
Roger is living proof that age is just a number and that it’s never too late to try something new, challenge yourself or pursue a dream.
We couldn’t be prouder of everything he has achieved in such a short space of time, and we feel incredibly lucky to have him as part of The Dance Base family.
