The 2nd PT Client Competition was a blast on Saturday!💥

Some came back for a second bite of the cherry, and for many this was a first taste of a fitness competition. Everybody gave their all and supported one another immensely 🥹

Proud of each and every one of them for showing what they can do, but they’d better up their games if they want to knock the champions off the top spot next time… 👀🤣

This time last Saturday, the first ever competition for my PT clients was held at ⚓️

We had 4 teams battle it out through 3 tough workouts, with team Black Panthers rising to the top to take the win!🥇

What I really loved was how well the teams supported and encouraged each other, even when some of them had only met each other for the first time on the day ❤️

Every single person has different strengths, injuries/conditions and levels of confidence. But every single person shone through, with some incredible effort and lifting some big weights!💪🏼

Super proud of all of these wonderful people and look forward to more clients getting involved next time for an even bigger and better event!🤩

Big thanks to for helping us all afternoon and allowing us to use CFGY for this event, couldn’t have done it without you!

for the awesome pictures - I’ll treasure these memories and I’m sure my clients will too!

and to for her support with scoring on the day, but more importantly away from the gym and helping to make it all possible!💜

Fitness Highlights from 2024 ⭐️

Last year, I set out with one major goal: Just Show Up

For most of the year, I stuck to that goal. Whether it was being in a 60-min Class, a 30-min Metcon or doing my own thing in Open Gym, I showed up 3-4 times a week.

I didn’t stick to a particular plan or set specific goals. Just show up.

And just showing up resulted in these achievements:
- Learning to link Ring Muscle-Ups for the first time
- Getting 2 Strict & 6 Kipping Handstand Push-Ups for the first time
- 150kg Deadlift (2x bodyweight)
- New Bench Press PB (77.5kg for 4 - not shown)
- Having a ton of fun at with amazing friends!
- Getting back to playing basketball with friends (I’ve still got some of the old magic!)

I’m grateful to my training friends and PT clients for all of the love, support and inspiration every week.

This year, the goal remains the same. After a busy end to 2024, training fell by the wayside more often, but now it’s time to make it a priority again.

No specific strength goals, no specific reps or times to achieve. Just show up, see what I’m capable of and above all, enjoy training!

Here’s to more magic in 2025 🫡🪄

Reflections on 2024

For all of the business success this year, there has also been personal challenges.

I am so grateful to all of my clients who have trained with me this year. You’ve enabled me to experience some incredible highs, and I am so thankful that you’ve been with me throughout this journey.

I first started at the studio 4 years ago, and even at the start of this year, I wouldn’t have believed I’d be fully booked by the end of it.

But I do it because I love seeing the confidence of my clients grow, they start to realise how strong and capable they really are.

Collectively, we have shared some of the biggest highs and lows of life this year: life and loss, marriage and divorce, new jobs and redundancy amongst many others.

To say it’s been an amazing year, doesn’t negate the fact that some stuff - for myself, my family, friends and clients - has been really challenging to deal with and overcome.

2025 will bring its own challenges. But also its own triumphs. Its own highs and its own lows. There is lots to look forward to and lots that we don’t even know about yet.

I’m excited to see what it will bring.

Thanks again for sharing this part of my journey. Wishing you all good health and contentment for the year ahead,

Adam

I recently got told by a new client that I was recommended because I “fix broken people” 🤣

Whilst I can’t work miracles and literally fix injuries, I take pride in helping people to take ownership of their recovery and build strength - minimising their pain and nurturing their confidence along the way.

More often than not, I find that clients with injuries have lost confidence in their own strength. It makes perfect sense. Our brains try to protect us. Why would we risk pain for the sake of lifting a certain weight?

But once we start to move with less pain, once we start racking up those tiny little wins of improvement, confidence grows. The mindset shifts from ‘I can’t’ to ‘maybe I can’. That’s when we see the real progress. The self-belief, the determination. The drive to overcome a past injury.

Because that’s what it is - the past. It means we acknowledge it, and its importance, but we look for a way forward. A long-term solution. Most people don’t realise they are the solution. Their hard work, their time and effort invested in themselves, is the solution.

It can lead to incredible results. I’m currently working with clients who have had injuries including herniated spinal discs, ruptured knee ligaments (ACL), torn meniscus (knee) and ruptured Achilles tendon.

These are injuries that keep athletes, let alone mere mortals like us, out for whole seasons. But these clients have collectively achieved some of these feats of strength:
- 65kg Deadlift (disc injury)
- 100kg Deadlift (Achilles)
- 70 sec Plank (disc injury)
- 155kg Back Squat (ACL & meniscus)
- 317kg Sled Pull (ACL & meniscus)

Don’t let your injury be a life sentence of pain. Take ownership of it, seek guidance and embrace your own strength!

Until then, I’ll enjoy my cup of tea reflecting on how amazing my clients are 🤩

Back in February, partially, almost fully, ruptured her Achilles tendon at the studio. An Achilles tear is a BIG injury. It keeps athletes out of their sport for a whole season. We knew it was going to be a slow, painful and very emotional journey to recover and rehab the Achilles.

We’ve been very mindful of loading the Achilles and reintroducing our strength work to our training sessions. Sandra has been laser-focused on doing what she can, when she can. We did lots of calf raises, worked on balance, reintroduced the sled and started deadlifting again.

Prior to the Achilles injury, she had deadlifted 80kg for multiple reps. We never tested anything more.

On Friday, Sandra asked me “Do you think that maybe I could lift 100kg by Christmas?”. I said, “For sure”.

We were currently doing some halting (paused) deadlifts @ 65kg. I told her I was going rogue on the session plan and that we’re just going to do one rep at a time, normal deadlifts. Don’t think about the weight, just concentrate on good technique and creating lots of tension.

I put 80kg on the bar, Sandra lifts it. Starting to feel that she’s working harder.

I put 90kg on the bar, Sandra lifts it, albeit with a little bit of a struggle.

I put 100kg on the bar, with Sandra oblivious to how much she’s actually lifting at this point. I told her to be ready, create lots of tension before she lifts and keep pushing down into the floor throughout.

100kg - got it.

Sandra puts the bar down and I say “How’s 100kg by the 6th September?”.

Lots of disbelief and a few tears later, here’s the picture of the bar at 100kg. This was a monumental moment. A moment of ‘I’m strong, and possibly even stronger than ever’, just 6 months after the Achilles rupture.

A moment of overcoming a debilitating injury, a moment of showing herself that she is capable. And I don’t know how many times I’ll have to say it before she admits it, but Sandra is STRONG!

Now onto that 200kg Sled Pull… 👀🔥

On a professional level, the injury was probably the scariest moment of my career so far! But every challenge is an opportunity to learn something new!

Home from an incredible week in Gran Canaria!🏝️

So grateful to be in a position to afford to take this week off with Beth () every year - it’s always exactly what’s needed 🙏🏼

Feeling well rested and excited to bore my clients with the same holiday stories for the next couple of weeks 😆
