🚨Sunday Development Squad🚨

This season entered a development league on a Sunday with the aim of bridging the gap between junior and senior cricket.

Many of our u13’s have made their senior cricket debut through this team, supported but our senior players, several of whom have then gone on to play for our Saturday league teams as the season progressed.

Skipper Duggers has lead an amazing group, ensuring all have had the opportunity to display their ability and grow within the game. The team remains unbeaten and has made it to the final which takes place on Sunday 6th September at Broomfield CC, 3pm start.

If you are able to, please get down and show the squad your support! I’m sure they’d love to have a loud crowd cheering them on from the boundary!

🏆 Celebration 🏆

Last night we celebrated the junior players at the club with a colts vs parents match (in which the parents asserted their dominance) with a BBQ and awards presentation.

The u13’s came third in their league this season and many of the squad have made their senior cricket debuts.

We also have some keen and talented players coming up through the u9-11 section.

A massive thank you to the coaches, kids, and parents for an amazing, enjoyable season!

🚨Match Result🚨

The 1s dominated at home with a huge 145 run win over Terling.

Humpo (31) and Aaron (33) set the tone early before Elham and Ollie piled on a massive 156‑run partnership. Ollie hit 65, but Elham stole the show with a brilliant 107 (10 fours, 2 sixes). The 1s finished on a commanding 319.

Aaron struck twice inside two overs, Sam added two more, and Aaron followed this up for another pair. Matty and new 1s addition Miles cleaned up the tail to bowl Terling out for 174. A complete performance.

——

The 2s were put in to bowl, with Mohammed and Joe working hard early before Joe broke through. Rhys tightened things up and Nando delivered a destructive 6‑for, bowling the oppo out for 235.

With three down inside four overs the chase wasn’t going to plan. Kiz rebuilt with Nando, an 81 run partnership, but once Nando fell for 45 the collapse followed. Kiz was bowled for 39 and the tail couldn’t recover — 2s all out for 145. A disappointing 89 run loss.

——

The 3s travelled to Eastwood and bowled first. Wags and John kept things tight, Paul and Steve continued the squeeze and broke the opening pair. Jamie picked up three and fielding was tight. Jack impressed on debut behind the stumps as Eastwood were held to 166.

Atul and Andy built calmly, with Andy falling just short of his 50. Russ added 25 and Atul finished unbeaten on a superb 88 to seal a dominant 9‑wicket win.

🚨Match Results🚨

The 1s got off to a fantastic start, with Aaron taking a brilliant 4‑fer and Ollie backing him up to leave the oppo 55 for 5. Their No.6 dug in and tried to rebuild, but the attack stayed on top and bowled them out for 184.

Runs were hard to come by in reply. Early wickets for openers Aaron and Humpo added pressure, and although Duggers worked hard for his 30 and Wozza chipped in with a vital 29, it wasn’t enough. The 1s fell short by 49 runs.

——

After losing the toss, the 2s were asked to bowl in conditions that didn’t suit them, but they didn’t let that show. Tight lines and sharp fielding brought regular wickets, eight of them caught, with JT and Afnan taking two each but Nando was the standout, picking up his first Waltham 5‑for. The 2s kept the oppo to 220.

Joe then took charge of the chase, batting through for an unbeaten 88* that included 8 fours and 3 sixes. Harrison E added a solid 30, Nindi made 29, and Nando finished 21* as he and Joe saw it home. A much‑needed six‑wicket win for the 2s in their push to stay in Div 3.

——

The 3s faced top‑of‑the‑table Galleywood and were put in to bat after losing the toss. Andy and Atul both fell early, leaving the 3s 35/2, but Russ steadied things and built an innings while wickets fell around him. He was eventually bowled for 71, closing the innings on 178.

With the ball, Wags and John set the tone, making the openers work for everything. Frank and Steve kept things tight and picked up wickets before the batters could settle. With 45 needed and six overs left, Fin and Hari were handed the ball. It got tense, but both held their nerve and took the final two wickets with overs to spare, sealing an 18‑run win.
