Hey all, I have now stopped bootcamp classes, but the wonderful Tom at Lean On Me PT has taken over. He is running:

Wednesday 7.30-8.30pm - Boxing
Saturday 8-9am - Bootcamp, circuits etc

All in the usual place - Gt Missenden Buryfield.

Tom is super skilled in Muay Thai, Weightlifting, Running, Pilates and Yoga, so he brings something reaIly unique and different to bootcamp. He’s highly skilled at ensuring the right technique and he’ll have you whipped into shape as a lean mean fighting machine in no time!

Hi campers!

Great news - bootcamp will be back on the Buryfield from Weds 31st March, with 2 classes a week Wednesday evening 7.30-8.30pm and Saturday morning 8-9am.

We’ll have 2 weeks of drop ins before starting a new block after Easter. Please let me know if you’re keen, places will be limited.

If you want to join Wednesday evening can you let me know your preference for a) bootcamp or b) boxing.

Saturday will be general bootcamp.

Well this meat and and booze free January is going surprisingly well. I feel great. Loads more energy, dropping pounds and saving some too. Plus feeling like I am being much kinder to the planet.

And it’s an excuse to splash out on some seriously yummy sushi from local firm SushiVan 🐟

Might have to make this a permanent thing...

Meat free Monday inspiration...

Salmon, feta and beetroot salad with roasted new potatoes and caper, lemon and parsley dressing. Bursting with flavour and goodness! Even the D man liked it.

Even managed a little kitchen dumbbell set while the potatoes were cooking!
10 x each of hammer curls, lateral raises, frontal raises, military press, bent over rows, skull crushers, bent over tricep extensions, chest press and TYI x 3 sets.

It’s so hard right now but keep going with your NY fitness goals and you’ll see the difference.

In a world of no booze, no family and friends and no meat (wtf were we thinking?!?) this seafood / veggie takeaway from Sukhothai Restaurant in Gt Missenden, is a serious contender for highlight of the week.

The sea bass with soy sauce, ginger and spring onion is especially good.

Brew Dog’s Nanny State non-alcoholic beer is a saviour.

I’ll be working the spring rolls and prawn crackers off at bootcamp tomorrow.

Wednesday night is bootcamp night so it was a quick, easy and early dinner with the kids - fish fingers in buns with chipotle mayo, home cut wedges and salad. Serious comfort food.

Great to be back at our first session of the new year. Proper power session to blow away the Christmas cobwebs! 🕸

I might have regretted the fish finger buns a little during the third round of abs!

Today’s clean, lean and mean (in a good way) culinary creations...

Working lunch with The Hulk consisted of leftovers from last night with falafel, hummus and pitta. All kinds of yum and healthy fast food to power us through equal or unequal groups.

Tonight’s dinner of salmon and courgette linguine got the thumbs up from E, and in her standard Princess Grotbags style ended up all over her face. Sign of a great meal!

Tonight’s culinary creation - Harissa crusted Mackerel with Couscous and Tomato Salad. Originally a Hello Fresh recipe with beef koftas, we substituted them for the mackerel.

Seriously tasty with just the right amount of spice, plus some bonus harissa mayo leftover to add to my lunchtime pitta tomorrow. Too spicy for the kids - they had scampi and wedges instead.

In a day spent stressing about impending lockdown and school closure and dodging squawks of ‘Muuum, Muuuum, Muuuuuum’ (I made the fatal error of not getting them out for a run) this meal has been a definite highlight. Gotta look for the little positives in these challenging times!

Keep the faith people - it’s always darkest before the dawn.

Hi bootcampers, I am going Pescetarian in January to be a little kinder to my body, wallet and the planet. It’s much needed after the excesses of Christmas.

Thought I would share recipes on here for any others that are looking to do Veggie or Pescetarian January, or simply looking for inspiration for healthy and cost consciousness family meals.

Tonight’s recipe - avocado, spinach and bean chilli with rice. Really simple - chuck a tin of chopped tomato’s and beans (kidney or beans beans) in a pan; add stock cube, balsamic vinegar, paprika, chilli powder or paste. Cook for 15 mins. At the end chuck in spinach, serve over rice and sprinkle with avocado chunks. If you prefer the avo softer you can mix it in 5 mins before the end.

Super fast, healthy and easy on the wallet. Even the kids enjoyed it. Winner winner, no chicken dinner!

Now I just need to stop myself eating chocolate on the sofa tonight!
