A fantastic British Doubles System Masterclass 🎾

It was great to welcome Rob Smith and Stu Twigg from The Coach Lab to the county yesterday.

Rob is an LTA Level 5 coach and tutor who has worked with full-time and professional players, including a top-five ITF junior, two top-100 WTA players, a British Davis Cup winner, and a multiple Grand Slam and Olympic gold medallist. Rob is currently working with Alfie Hewett and Gordon Reid.

Hosted by Boughton Park Tennis Club, Rob delivered a British Doubles System Masterclass for 16 county and top-league players from across the county.

The players practised key elements from the Principles of Doubles, focusing on movement, net play and fine-tuning their receiving skills. Everyone enjoyed a fantastic session, working intensely throughout the 90 minutes 👏

A big thank you to Rob, Stu and all the players for their engagement, as well as Tina and Sarah for organising such a great session with The Coach Lab.

Tackling Sexual Harassment in Sport workshop, Delivered by Our streets now and Hosted by Active Black Country on behalf of the West Midlands Sport Welfare Network.

This extended session is aimed at colleagues from National Governing Bodies, leisure providers, sports clubs, and community organisations.

Alongside raising awareness of sexual harassment in sport, the workshop will include scenario-based discussions and practical activities to help attendees build confidence in recognising and responding to concerns.

Places are free but limited so booking is essential and on a first come first serve basis.

Due to the sensitive nature of the topic, attendees will be asked to complete a short registration process as part of booking.

A great effort from the H&W 16U teams who were in 12 Counties Championship action yesterday 🎾

The girls finished in 1st place by just one set difference vs Berkshire!

▪️3-1 win vs Northants
▪️2-2 draw vs Norfolk
▪️2-2 draw vs Berkshire

The H&W boys finished in 3rd place.

▪️2-2 draw vs Northants
▪️2-2 draw vs Berkshire
▪️1-3 loss vs Norfolk

The teams will be competing against Northants, Berkshire and Norfolk in Division 2B.

Kerry Ligthert, H&W’s Walking Tennis Lead spent this morning at the VCSE network meeting in Pershore, enlightening delegates from a number of community, NHS and voluntary organisations about the benefits of walking tennis and how it can keep people active & healthy!
