Exciting news! Want to try something new with your horse or looking for an activity close by for the family? Then look no further, I will be at Eckington Riding Club for the morning on Monday the 27th July.
The lessons will be a fun taster of how to shoot mediterranean style on foot and hopefully on horseback!

A couple of weeks ago I had a Mamluk archery lesson at the Ribble Valley Mounted Archers camp 'The Big Draw'.
It was fun learning the thumb draw shooting style, made my brain hurt!

I especially enjoyed hearing about the history of Mamluk archery and loved that we got to have a go at shooting arrows whilst holding a sword.

It's open to all, from complete beginners to people with experience.
You will have some time on the ground first getting used to equipment (this is provided), etc., then your horses will be introduced to it. Nice and steady sessions in a pair or trio. We will match people on experience, etc., unless you're bringing a friend. This is also open to people without a horse should you wish to learn with out a horse first.

The dream of Horseback Archery at the Olympic Games has taken another important step forward.

The Australian Horse Archery Association (AHAA) has formally submitted Horse Archery for consideration as a demonstration sport — and potentially a future medal event — at the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games.

Horseback Archery embodies the true Olympic spirit through the fusion of ancient traditions and modern competition. Combining elite horsemanship, precision archery, speed, athleticism, and cultural heritage, the sport continues to grow globally as one of the most dynamic and visually captivating disciplines in the world.

As a founding member of the International Horseback Archery Alliance (IHAA), Australia has played a significant role in the international development and standardisation of the sport. This submission marks another milestone in the global journey of Horseback Archery toward wider international recognition.

IHAA appreciates the dedication and efforts of the AHAA Management Committee and Olympic Sub-Committee, especially Lyndon Blake and Rodney Deaman, for their commitment and vision in advancing the sport on the world stage.

Together, nations are uniting through Horseback Archery — preserving heritage while building the future of sport.
