Preseason friendlies have begun in the run up to C&DSL Prem Division 24/25 and we are off to a great start beating shrimpers 6-2 in our first game of the year.

The new signings fit in well and the level of football played looked to be where we left it at the end of last season. The opener came from Matt after just four minutes with Ben slotting two away within minutes of eachother 20 minutes in, 3-0. Just on the whistle of half time Matt scored again to a secure a brace and make it 4-0.

Gaffer left at half time so no notes taken but two goals from the shrimpers gave them hope but Matty soon finished the game with another two goals to seal the game and cruise to a 6-2 victory.

A tough game this Thursday against a newly formed side The Tips, losing a close 4-3 to Wormingford Newtown, hopefully we can grab a result!!

24/03/24 : GHFC v BROOKLANDS FC🟣⚪️
GAME ABANDONED ‼️

The first half saw a hat-trick from Hayden, scoring 3 goals with the Horks having most of the possession.

The second half started off well with a 4th goal from Matt, and some great defending from the boys 💪

Around the 75th minute, things took a turn for the worst and an unfortunate accident left the opponents GK with a broken arm, leading to the game being abandoned.

So, now it’s up to the FA board to decide whether we take the points and win the league, or if the game is to be replayed - not quite the celebration we were hoping for, but we’ll post any updates as soon as we know 💜

For now, we all want to wish a safe & speedy recovery to the Brooklands GK, Sean ❤️‍🩹

Tomorrow we are at home to Brooklands FC in the Colchester & District Sunday League 🏆

This is a BIG game for the boys, taking home a win will solidify our top position in the league & second place wont be able to catch up on points… ultimately winning the league 🙌

We’re hoping for a big turnout to support the boys on what will (hopefully) be their winning game 😉

Whatever happens, to be this far unbeaten in only our 4th season as a team is something to be proud of 💜

Today’s games has been postponed by the league as the council are trying to look after their pitches.

Two games on the bounce called off due to a waterlogged pitch means we’re no closer to that title… yet!!

After yesterday’s disappointment, the boys are looking forward to taking on 5th place feering in order to try and stay unbeaten in the league. The lads will be searching for 17 more goals in the league with 5 games yet to be played ⚽️🔥
