I hope you are as happy as this sting ray looks 🤣

Last week, we spent some time in Bournemouth to see and we got to spend some time at the Oceanarium after we tried so hard to be good at golf ⛳

Turns out there is a reason why golfers have drivers 😉

It was so lovely to spend some quality time together that didn't include watching a ton of TV! 🎉

It is so easy to get bogged down in the day to day but making time for yourself and your relationships are really important to your overall wellbeing ❤️

P.S. this is a calling out post for myself but if it resonates with you then so be it 🤣🤣

Every two weeks, I see my coach.

My wonderful business coach from - her name is Claire and she is the best.

This week I had my bi weekly call to discuss all things business related and if I’m honest, I didn’t really see the point in going this week (sorry Claire!)

I have been very distracted from my business recently and fell out of habits that helped me move forward. It happens right - life events happen, work gets busy, social lives get hectic etc etc…

So what was the point in going? I hadn’t really got much to show for my time and I didn’t want to waste Claire’s time.

I could have easily cancelled…

But I didn’t.

Why I hear you ask, why didn’t I cancel?

Well, this is exactly the time when I need coaching. When I need the extra guidance because without it I would find moving forward really, really difficult.

This is the exact same for my clients and why they need PT.

My clients come to me because they have tried going it alone or they don’t know where to start and it is tough - just like it is tough to be a one man band in business. Sometimes you need to outsource.

What can you outsource to help you move forward?

It has nearly been a week since my best friend asked me to marry him 😍

I won't lie, I have been the worst person to be around. An example of my unacceptable behaviour includes actively searching and listening to love songs on Spotify.

I am hoping that my usual content will resume next week but I did you all a favour by not posting 🤣

Thank you for bearing with me in this tough time 🤣🤣

PSA for all you menstruating souls out there 👀

The most important thing when it comes to exercise, whether Aunt Flow is in town or not is listening to your body ❤️

If YOU feel like a light walk and gentle mobility will help you, that is absolutely fine!

If YOU feel like your usual training routine will help you, that is also absolutely fine!

As a trainer who predominantly trains menstruating people, I can safely say that we are all completely different. Some like to go harder, some like to tweak core work, some prefer a shift in focus to a more mobility based session.

There is no right or wrong - just how your body feels 💃

One of the perks of mobile PT is I get to fuss doggos 🐕

My client asked me to pick up some chicken on my way over to our PT session for this poorly pooch - I am more than happy to oblige 😉

Not just a PT but I can deliver groceries 🤣

‘Making mental health a priority for all’

Everyone deserves to be in a position where they feel able and willing to prioritise their mental wellbeing because we all experience mental health.

Whether we are in a good place or a bad place mentally, we have little things that we do on a day to day basis that keep us somewhat sane in this crazy game of life.

My views on mental health and the way we are encouraged to aspire to good mental health have changed and evolved over the years. This is not only through my own experiences and learning but also through listening to my clients.

For some, performing well at work and putting in the hours there is something that they really value and helps them prioritise their mental wellbeing. For others, it is going out for a run every day whilst relaxing with a hot cuppa in between kids napping is the best way to maintain sanity for most of my parent clients!

Recognising these little (or big) things that we need to do on the regular to keep us mentally well is super important as these are the things that tend to slip when our mental state slips a little bit.

So, what do you do that keeps you sane?

Is it: exercise, journalling, morning routines, taking pride in your work, having space to relax, reading, sorting out finances, asking for help, cleaning your face, cleaning your house (etc etc)?

How can you incorporate more of what you love in your life?!

You are worth prioritising 🌍

Hitting my goal of lifting 100kg was literally the worst thing I did for my fitness journey...

Or should I say, ONLY focussing on hitting 100kg on my deadlift was the worst thing.

Sure it gave me direction and determination to get there but once I got there I was left a bit direction-less. Plus, there is always that option to pick up that negative thought process around not being at this level anymore 🧠

I didn't realise it at the time but all of my training was geared up towards hitting that goal so when I hit it, I didn't know what I wanted to do in the gym anymore.

This can be the downside to having very specific goals - whether it is tied to weight loss, weight gain, hitting certain numbers in the gym - not knowing how to navigate things after you have hit them can be really tough.

Usually my clients come to me with a goal in mind and when we do a deep dive into it, we tend to find that it is linked more to:
🥳Feeling better
🥳Having more energy
🥳Developing a better relationship with exercise
🥳Feeling comfortable in their clothes and
🥳Finding themselves again

These are the types of goals that directly enhance the quality of your life. When you feel better, more confident and comfortable whilst finding that you have more energy, life just seems that little bit easier.

Exercise can give you so much if you zoom out a little bit!

So, have a think about your goals.

Are they too specific or not specific enough?

How would you like life to be that little be easier for you?

Do you need to zoom out a little bit?

Seeing this beaut in person has been the cherry on top of this week 🎊

Emma is one of my virtual clients but I happened to be in the area to give her a face to face treat 😂

Nothing beats hearing 'I hate you' and 'why do I do this to myself' in person rather than over Google Meets ❤️

Sounds a bit weird doesn’t it?! 👀

The last thing you want to do when you are feeling like you have zero energy is do something that actually expends more energy… I’ve been there, I know exactly how that feels.

But there is actually science behind! 🔬

Remember learning about the cells in our body at school? You’d draw the funky pictures with the nucleus and membranes… Well, in the membranes of our cells is where the mitochondria is stored.

This fantastic little beast provides around 90% of energy required for that cell to work. This includes transporting hormones, water and blood around the body (amongst other things).

To help these vital elements on their journey around the body, the mitochondria inside the cells need a little bit of charge - think of them like little tiny batteries 🔋

But how do I charge them? You move. Often.

Movement helps the production of mitochondria as well as helping our blood circulate more efficiently which in turns helps the body work effectively. A happy little byproduct of this is more energy!

Who doesn’t want more energy?! 🔥

In person OR virtual?

Private studio OR your own home?

One to one OR in a group?

Online coaching OR programme design only?

This is why my service is fully customisable to you! It is PERSONAL training after all 😉

It has to be personal and individualised to you as we are all so different. We have different time and financial pressures. We have child care to think about and work commitments to try and work around.

This is why I make my service as flexible as I can possibly make it.

If you aren't sure which way to turn, drop me a message and we can set up a free consultation to discuss your options 🙌

The world right now is stressed.

The amount of s**t we have happening on a global scale compounds our own daily life stressors which makes our collective and individual worlds seem very heavy. If I could wave a magic wand and rid the world of all stressors, I would - who wouldn’t?!

Stress and in particular chronic stress can have severe consequences on our physical and mental wellbeing. Research shows that chronic stress can lead to higher risks of heart attacks and strokes. It also can play havoc on your digestive and reproductive system as well as impacting your psychological state - pretty rubbish isn’t it? 🙈

Building an awareness of how stress can impact other areas of your life can empower you to make decisions that improve the quality of your life and help you move to a position of control.

So what on Earth does exercise have to do with stress?!

 🤯

Well, dear followers, let me tell you. Not only does exercise release endorphins (feel-good neurotransmitters) but it also provides you with a separate space to hold your stress and channel it. Many of my clients have stressful, busy lives. They have repeatedly told me, time and time again, that the space we hold for our PT sessions helps them manage this stress.

Note that I didn’t say it cures stress or makes it magically disappear. It helps manage stress in a way that leads to more health based benefits which we will talk about over the next few weeks.

So find an activity you enjoy and do it consistently to harness the stress management properties of it ❤

The summer I turned 30...

This has been one of the most enjoyable summers of my whole entire life and it has been full of adventures, love and kindness ❤

It has also been one of the most challenging periods of my life but we are still moving and grooving! Still working on myself, my business and my relationships 🙌

As autumn comes around, it is wonderful to reflect on how the year has panned out and look forward to spending the rest of the year working on implementing my new years intentions that I haven't been so great in being on top off 🥰

Here's to remembering a great summer and realigning goals and intentions for the rest of the year 👍
