We are pleased to announce that we have been recognised as an asset of community value by Thurrock Council.

Our club has had an active presence at the historic Kilverts site, since 1946, and has become a local icon, regularly appearing in photographs of the area.

The registration of our club as a community asset recognises the community benefit that a sailing club brings to the local community, both for those who actively participate in the sport, but also as a rare visible link between the town and the river. For us it is not about prestige, it is about being established part of the local community. It is important that this is never lost. Being recognised as a community asset helps protect the site from future development.

We have one of the largest fleets of club owned boats in the region, meaning that members do not have to invest in their own boat to enjoy safe sailing, marking us out as a true community sports organisation.

There was a lot of activity on the river yesterday.

There was a lot of activity on the river yesterday.

There is always something to see on the Thames at Grays. Here is a group of NATO warships sailing past TYC on 14th October 2022. Bravo Zulu!

We are proud to be hosting this community event. The Thames is literally our biggest community sports area, and adjoining Kilverts Field is a much cherished venue for a number of different recreational activities, not least the storage of our boats to protect them from high tides. Anybody with an interest in ensuring the council's plans do not jeopardise recreation on or by our river should make their voice heard. This is way more than just another commercial opportunity!
