Our first over-nighter of the season happened last week.

Absolute pleasure working with Fire Brigades Union and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service again, providing NNAS tuition. Our third year passing these skills on to fire fighters to boost confidence and wellbeing, and a wee accreditation to boot.

We’ve been combining our silver courses with an over night wild camp for the last couple of seasons, and it works really well. Removes the issue and expense of fire fighters finding overnight accommodation and provides an opportunity for a bit of extra camp craft skill sharing and night nav.

Definitely one of our personal highlights running these courses!

Pick up a copy of the latest TGO Magazine to read about our trek last year with Minreet and her mum, Pal - beautifully captured by David Lintern. It was a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with our 'why' when it comes to guiding folk in the mountains. Fully bespoke experiences are what we relish and it's where we've ultimately returned to, honing in on that individual perspective and presence.

Do seek out this article if you can - Minreet's writing perfectly captures the multifaceted nature of personal challenge. A reminder that everyone's adventures are different, accomplished and always worth the time.

We were grateful to take the wonderful Pritpal and her daughter Minreet out on an overnight trek recently. Pal is a true endorsement on what it is to be alive and 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 live. It was a pleasure to spend time with her, and to also play a small part in her big life adventure! Thank you to David Lintern for the opportunity, photos and company.

A huge congratulations to Linda, one of our long-term clients, for reaching her target of 100 Munros! Just over 10 years of walking with us and many miles of bog trodden! We ended it with a stunning 3 day trek to Fisherfield, summiting Linda's final munro of Beinn Tarsuinn. A huge achievement for such a wonderful hiking companion - many miles of trust and a joy to walk with. The adventure isn't over though, and we've still got places to explore! Congrats again, Linda 🍾

Trail mix - different every time 😜 If you've been on a trek with us, you'll usually get a wee bag of this stuff. Various nuts (extra cashews 😋), big juicy raisins, and usually a random surprise. Sometimes chocolate raisins, sometimes M&Ms... and there may have been an occasion or two involving jelly babies. It's great to have in your pocket to dip into while walking.

Simon sent this pic through to us from the Alps where he's currently hiking the GR5 (we'll post some more pics of his adventure soon).

The Mullardoch 12 - you don’t have to rush them!

If you have the time, come with us over 4 days, with a light pack that contains everything you need. With an experienced guide who knows the area well (and the best spots to camp 😉) these Munros can be enjoyed as a small group which is better for you, for us, and the environment. We’ve been guiding in the Mullardochs for many years and have lost count of the number of rounds we’ve done. If this round is still on your list, give it the time it deserves! Info on our website.

Thanks to everyone who joined us on our Solstice Bivvy Trek this year. We set off up Ben Macdui in glorious evening light before experiencing some good ol' clag, mizzle, rain and, thankfully, more sunshine in time for breakfast. A real mix of weather!

So often when hillwalking, you're trying to descend before dark, or get back in time for dinner. There really is something special about rebelling against that and staying out all night. You get to see light and weather shift, dusky light and shadows show the landscape's full personality, and you find yourself floating into a more natural rhythm. Before you know it, the sun's going down and you're still there to witness it in its full, undisputed glory. A great way to mark the peak of summer!

Wonderful to see further breeding success from the Saving Wildcats team. This incredibly rare species is now steadily finding its paws in the Cairngorms.

Thinking of our friends in the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service who are currently managing huge wildfires on the moorland around Grantown. Conditions are incredibly dry with a warm and strong southerly wind, we are hoping for rain later today. Please don’t light fires or BBQs.
