- Roseisle Hall, 9.15am Tuesdays
- Burghead Community Hall, 7pm Wednesdays
All bookable in the usual way.

As I travel around the UK, I continue to see adverts for 'gentle' and 'chair-based' exercise for those who have the ability to walk and as an intervention to reduce falls.
Let's be clear:
- exercise must be progressive over the sessions in order to improve fitness (this does not feel gentle)
- only exercises from a standing position have the potential to prevent falls
- if the ability to walk up/down a flight of stairs is a requirement to access a class, then that will be more intense than the content of a chair-based session
- chair-based exercise is effective for some health benefits in those who cannot maintain an independent standing position for more than approx 30 secs
- if social interaction is the primary intention then an interactive activity rather than a taught activity (focus on instructor) is more appropriate.

Sunday, 5th July will be the last classes of the month before I take my summer break (with my yoga mat of course!).

So if there's a need for osteoporosis prevention (better than cure), then why do we constantly see menopause /post-menopause / older person / seated exercise promotion as 'gentle' and 'fun'?
Sitting down and playing games, or taking a stroll, are insufficient and inappropriate interventions.

It is with regret that I have to cancel classes today and tomorrow due to a family bereavement. Those who had booked have been notified.

Who said cat & mouse?
Keeping a calm and steady focus during the yoga class is even more challenging when there's a game of squirrel & mouse going on directly outside 🐿️🐀

This evening I received the best message from an online client. She's put in lots of hard work between our weekly sessions to achieve this.
Before the pandemic I would never have taught online, but this feedback proves that it's always good to be open to change.
