I've almost recovered from a very busy weekend of commentary duties up in Inverness, travelling almost 1100 miles in 2 1/2 days as well as a full day talking rubbish on the mic!
A great group of throwers from all around the World taking on the challenge of the heavy events. Especially the women who put on a great show and entertained the crowd with some very impressive performances.
The only record broken on the day came from the young Juliet Ramsay who added 2 1/2 meters onto the woman's 14lb weight for distance record.
The one event I love to put on is the Inverness Stonemason's stone, 252lbs stone that you pick up and throw over a 5ft bar without touching the bar. Only 11 men have successfully completed this shear strength event in the history of Inverness Highland Games.
Some big impressive individuals have previously been successful in this event. Look who we've had over the past 2 years. The current Worlds strongest man, previous Worlds strongest man, Europeans strongest man and of course scotlands own Sinclair Patience who was the only man to succeed this year.
A huge shout out needs to go to Sanjay Das for his excellent photos of not only the athletes but the officials and general atmosphere of the Games, definitely a talented man that you need to utilise if you want some awesome pics.
After running another event yesterday I can finally sit down, chill and take it all in but saying that I've just realised that i'm returning back north in a few weeks for the next installment of Games.
Last point to state is - real men wear pink 😘
