So……..
Some news coming from cairngormsnationalpark late last week that interested us very much
The “Cycle Hub Funding Awards” have awarded 6 projects in the national park a total of £350,000 - Including the Grantown Bike Kitchen, offering cycle maintenance services, skills training, cycle loan schemes, and a public e-bike charging and repair station” who were awarded a whopping £139,508
£139,508 …………
Now there are some parts of this project that could be great but how has it cost this much???
Think of what this level of money could have brought to the local “Community” - after all, that is what is they are hailing it as being used for.
Think of what a fraction of this money could have done for High Street Businesses - a vital part of the honest hard working local “Community”
There must be plenty of “Community” projects that could prosper with a fraction of this funding?
Perhaps we could employ more people and share the wealth of Knowledge and Experience that already exists in the local “Community”
Not to mention that only ONE local existing Bike related business seems to have been awarded some of this funding.
ONE!!
Myself, BaseCamp Bikes Ltd , Ride Scotland and Bothy Bikes have been living and working in the Cairngorms National Park for 20+ years bringing Bicycle passion, knowledge and experience to the local community with ZERO funding
But I guess cairngormsnationalpark do not view us as part of this Local Community.
I for one was not asked to consult or contribute a single idea for what could be useful and needed here.
I cannot wait to find out about the local business impact report states as well as viewing their business plan - find out who is involved and see their relevant qualifications, experience and insurance amongst other things.
What a disgraceful way the cairngormsnationalpark is treating the honest, hardworking, tax paying businesses in this local Community
