🏸 THERE’S ALWAYS SOMETHING HAPPENING AT GBC…

If you thought Grantham Badminton Club was just a couple of club nights each week… think again! 😂

A typical week can include:

🏸 No Strings
🏸 Junior coaching
🔥 Advanced & match-standard badminton
🏸 Main Club Night
💪 Training & drills
🏆 League matches

Then somehow we also manage to fit in tournaments, socials, championships, Summer League and everything else that gets added to the calendar along the way!

And behind every session there are people organising courts, fixtures, teams, shuttles, bookings and all the other little jobs that nobody sees.

It can get a little hectic… but we wouldn't have it any other way. 💙

As we get ready to start another season, we just want to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who plays, volunteers, coaches, captains teams or helps keep the club running.

🏸 SUMMER LEAGUE – FINAL MATCHES 🏆

After a brilliant summer of badminton, we’ve reached the final night of our 2026 Summer League!

This Friday sees the last matches of the competition, with the final results still to be decided.

It’s been a really competitive league this year, with some great matches and plenty of close results across both divisions.

Now there’s just one question left…

🏆 Who will be crowned our 2026 Summer League winners?

A huge thank you to all 8 teams who entered and everyone who has played, organised teams and supported the league throughout the summer.

Good luck to everyone playing in the final matches on Friday — there’s still plenty to play for! 🏸

🏸 WE’VE BEEN A LITTLE QUIET… 👀

It’s been a couple of weeks since we last appeared on your Facebook feed…

Have we been enjoying a nice relaxing summer break?

Absolutely not. 😂

Behind the scenes at Grantham Badminton Club, it’s been all systems go getting ready for the 2026/27 season! 🏸🔥

📋 Match preferences have been flying in
📅 Fixtures are about to start being planned
🏆 Teams are being prepared
👥 Membership preparations are underway
📱 Our new Visitor Booking System is ready to go
🏸 No Strings continues to keep us VERY busy
🎳 Our pre-season bowling night is getting closer
📂 New season paperwork has somehow multiplied overnight
💬 And the committee WhatsApp has definitely not been quiet… 😂

Oh, and there may have been the occasional spreadsheet involved too. 👀

With the new season starting next week, things are about to get even busier!

🏸 ARE WE READY FOR THE NEW SEASON?

Well… define ready. 😂

The 2026/27 season is getting closer, which means things are starting to get very busy behind the scenes at Grantham Badminton Club…

🏸 Match preferences are currently being selected
📅 Fixtures will be planned over the next couple of weeks
🏆 Teams are starting to take shape
🎳 The pre-season social is booked
📆 The club calendar is rapidly filling up
👕 Club shirts are being discussed
📦 And we’re mentally preparing ourselves for the amount of shuttlecocks we’re about to get through… 😳😂

Basically, there are spreadsheets.

Lots of spreadsheets.

There are WhatsApp messages.

Lots of WhatsApp messages.

And somewhere amongst all of that, we’re apparently supposed to play badminton too. 😂🏸

📅 New season starts week commencing 7th September

We might not be completely ready yet…

…but we will be! 👀

🏸 MEANWHILE AT GRANTHAM BADMINTON CLUB…

Someone is waiting for a court.

Someone has forgotten the score.

Someone is insisting the shuttle was definitely OUT. 👀

Someone has just opened another tube of shuttles.

Someone is checking when they're playing next.

Someone is organising a tournament.

Someone is organising a social.

Someone is probably talking about the league tables. 😂

And somewhere in amongst all of that…

We actually manage to play quite a lot of badminton! 🏸

Never a dull week at GBC.

A huge amount happens throughout the year, both on and off court, and we’re looking forward to another busy season ahead.

🏸 Summer League Update 🏸

We're into the business end of the Summer League, and it couldn't be much tighter.

Across the divisions, there's very little separating the teams, with every match having a real impact on the standings. A single rubber, a few points, or one result could make all the difference.

It's been great to see the standard of badminton throughout the league—competitive matches, long rallies, and plenty of closely contested games.

As we celebrate the first anniversary of our No Strings sessions, we've been overwhelmed by the kind messages, cards and support from so many of you.

Seeing so many people enjoying badminton, making new friends and growing in confidence is exactly why we started this journey.

Whether you've been with us from the very first session or you've only recently joined, thank you for being part of our badminton family.

Special thanks also to everyone who helps behind the scenes, welcomes new players, and creates the friendly atmosphere that makes our club so special.

🏸 Hard work really does pay off.

Looking back over the past year, it's incredible to see just how far we've come.

There have been countless hours behind the scenes planning sessions, applying for funding, organising events, supporting players, promoting the club and finding new ways to make badminton accessible to everyone.

There have been challenges along the way, but we've never lost sight of what we're trying to achieve – creating a welcoming club where people of all ages and abilities can enjoy badminton, improve their skills and feel part of something special.

Today, we're seeing more players on court, more juniors developing, more opportunities for everyone to play, and a club that's continuing to grow stronger every month.

None of this happens by chance. It's a team effort, and we're incredibly grateful to everyone who has played a part – our volunteers, coaches, committee, members, parents, supporters and sponsors.

We're proud of what we've built together... and even more excited about what's still to come.
