I hear you, sometimes it feels like everything is pilling up of all the tasks to do.

However, what is the to-do’s for your healthy lifestyle could be:

✅ Looking after your mental health
✅ Increasing your steps

Now I know this can still be hard at times and whilst I can’t help with some things I can support you with making your healthy lifestyle easier to achieve.

Episode Seven of the KRPT podcast is live!

In today’s episode I talk about how I believe less is more when it comes to health and fitness. I talk more about how I used to write my workouts (prior to being a personal trainer) and the lessons I’ve learnt from that.

Whilst there is nothing inherently wrong with completing a workout with a lot of exercises some of the workouts I wrote had over sixteen exercises in one workout.

Within the workouts for my upcoming membership, Lift with Kelsey, there are definitely not as many exercises as that within a workout I promise you. (Pray raise hands)

“I’m not someone who runs”.

Or what if you are?

Whilst running is definitely a skill (runners don’t come at me I know this), I believe that the majority of us are able to become runners.

Just because you didn’t do it all throughout secondary school doesn’t mean you can’t do it now.

Just because it’s something you’ve always told yourself you’re not doesn’t mean you can’t do it now.

What if this year is the year of change, the year you truly go after your goals.

Instead of thinking about what could go wrong, let’s think about what could go right.

So looping back, you can become someone who runs by working on the habit of running and exercising more often.

There’s not a strict criteria to who is considered a runner. You can be a runner who runs ultra marathons or runs 5k’s. Either way, you are a runner.

This concept obviously doesn’t just apply to running, you can become someone who does something they never believed was possible for them.

Episode 6: How Goal Setting could help you in 2023 👇🏼

It might be me being picky about the wording but I don’t feel like there’s a need to resolve a ton of things. The idea that all of my goals need to be achieved this year also doesn’t have to be the case. Some goals are long term.

This year I’m in the mindset that I’m working on my goals from a place of love, grace and support for myself. Some days I might not feel like ticking everything off my list and on those days I’ll focus on the little wins and the little things I can do to help myself.

Working on your goals doesn’t have to be complicated and if you can work on whether it aligns with your life it’ll make things a million times easier.

✨ Here’s to 2023! ✨

Everyone has been doing these posts and I do think it’s important to reflect on 2022 and see what can be done to make 2023 better but also appreciate that life does and will through curveballs.

This year I have high hopes for my business and for some of the goals I have set personally. The main business goal I have for this year is launching my membership program in the next two months. It’s been something I’ve been thinking about for some time and I can’t wait to put ideas into action this year.

Looking forward to what 2023 has in store and what Kelsey Rose PT will become!

Hope you all have the best year!

Could the all or nothing mindset be stopping you?

The feeling that if you don't go all in and throw everything you've got at your goal you'll never get anywhere. The feeling of trying to complete said goal as quickly as you can or because you see others doing certain things and you think you have to do it the same way as them.

The all or nothing approach assumes that you will be putting every single ounce of energy into that one goal and you won't be doing anything else. That in itself is an unrealistic concept. Life is so complex and we all have so many different areas of our lives to focus on so putting our entire attention on one thing simply wouldn't happen.

The all or nothing approach can also make our day-to-day decision more difficult. If start the day setting out exactly what you're doing to eat or do and if life gets in the way and you have to alter that plan the all or nothing approach would mean you'd sack off the rest of the day and start again tomorrow. Again you could do that but you'll get to your goals and lot quicker if you don't.

Sometimes getting to the gym or doing even a little bit of exercise can make a massive difference so the notion of thinking that you have to do an intense workout if it can be considered a workout is false in my opinion.

If you have struggled with the all or nothing mindset before then trust me you're not the only one and at times I do as well. I think it's important to acknowledge that's how you're feeling and work on how you can turn up for your goals and do even something little that helps you make a little bit of progress. A little progress is better than no progress.

Oooooh you need to stop your scroll 👇🏼

If you think that working out in the gym is the only way to exercise I’m here to tell you that isn’t the case.

Of course, if you love going to the gym that’s awesome and all power to you however for some people the gym can be an extremely daunting environment and they might prefer to workout away from a gym.

For some goals, such as strength training, not having access to a gym could be a limiting factor unless you have a home gym with access to heavy weight. However if your goals don’t require heavy weights then working out away from a gym could work.

Sometimes you might not feel like the workout you had planned and whilst most days I’d say try to preserve and possibly do less reps or sets. However some days you might not feel like the workout at all and in that case I’d suggest just doing some movement.

It doesn’t have to be fancy or complicated, it could even be a walk or playing with your children.

As a coach I never make you feel guilty if you don’t complete all your workouts in fact we aim for 70-80% adherence. You might wonder why I don’t say that my clients should complete 100% of their workouts always. Sometimes life happens, you might have extra commitments, your mental might be struggling or many other reasons.

What’s your favourite kind of movement? Let me know in the comments or DM me!

I’m just going to say it.

I was one of those people who thought New Year's resolutions were a bit anticlimactic.

In previous years, I’d followed a lot of people who shunned the idea of New Year's goals and resolutions.

In turn, this had an effect on how effective I thought setting New Year's goals were.

The general opinion is that a lot of people fail by the end of the month so what’s the point in setting the goals anyway. Well, that doesn’t always have to be the case.

Instead of focusing on an outcome-driven goal, if you focus on a process-driven goal you’re more likely to stick at it because you’ll continue doing the process which in turn will help you achieve results.

🎉 Process-Driven Goal: A goal that emphasises or focuses on processes or systems rather than results.

🎉 Outcome-Driven Goal: A goal that emphasises or focuses on the outcome or result of a goal more than the process.

For example, instead of saying you will lose a certain amount of weight you could focus on actions that could help you achieve the goal such as becoming more active and walking a certain amount of steps a day.

There is nothing wrong with using the new year as a fresh start if you find it the most effective time to start working towards your goals.

When it comes to goals and making changes you can wait until Monday or start right there and then - do what suits you!

What are you hoping to achieve this year? Let me know in the comments.👇🏼
