Team Orange race report for July 2022.
July started with James and Tyler competing in the NKC round 4 at Whilton mill. It's a track that they both love. Saturday the boys used the only dry test session to scrub in the new tyres, then it was wet for the rest of the day until the last session. This was heat 1 and the track was drying, Tyler opted for slicks while James gambled on wets, why not, they were both starting near the back. Tyler made it up to 17th while James's gamble had him back in 24th. Sunday, the sun came out for a while, their next two heats came and went without incident. How had they done? Quite well actually, both had made the A final, unfortunately neither could make any progress and James finished 27th and Tyler 28th.
Matt and Steve visited Camberley on the 23rd for FP4 round 5. A small but challenging track. Due to holidays the field was smaller than normal. With all the back runners away Steve had no one to battle with but gave it everything to keep up with drivers that were quicker. Matt had it much tougher in the midfield finishing 11th, that top ten finish is getting close for Matt.

Team Orange race report for April and May 2022.
April started with a trip to Clay Pigeon for NKC round 2 but first a test session to make sure Tyler was race fit after fracturing his ribs in round 1. All was well until someone crashed into Tyler and tore the tendons in his thumb so he had to miss the race. After two days of testing we felt we had got everything out of the setup and James's lap times were really consistent. Race day came and nearly half the field had decided to use there second set of tyres leaving James with a pace disadvantage. He pushed hard in all 3 heats but still had to fight his way out of the B final. Starting 34th and last in the A final, James managed to get his way up to 27th.
The following weekend Matt and Steve were racing at Lydd in the FP4 championship. A track that both drivers were looking forward to. Saturday practice didn't go well for either driver, unable to find any pace. Sunday, race day, we had no option but to roll up our sleeves and get stuck in. Matt managed to finish in 17th and Steve in 20th.
May started with the FP4 championship visiting Forest Edge, a new track for Matt and Steve to learn. Saturday practice went well for Steve but Matt was struggling with understeer, which we discovered later to be worn stub axle bearings. Race day was a wet one making for some interesting racing. The final was on a drying track, Matt managed to secure 13th while Steve crossed the line in 18th.
Next was NKC round 3 at Rowrah in Cumbria, a tight and challenging track. Tyler decided to race despite minimal movement of his thumb and still wearing a support. James's lap times during the two days of practice were very impressive and Tyler was not to far behind. In the first heat both Tyler and James were span out at the start. Second heat didn't go any better with Tyler being spun out and James's chain coming off. Everything now depended on the third heat where Tyler managed 4th and James 12th. James battled through the B final again to join Tyler in the A final with Tyler finishing 22nd and James 27th.
Thanks to and for putting on some great events and a big thank you to for supplying the power.

Team Orange update,

Race weekend starting tomorrow, so after Tyler's accident at the last round I thought it best to get a sneaky practice in and make sure he will be able to race with his recovering ribs. We went to Whilton mill yesterday and all was going well, his ribs were fine and the kart seemed to be straight enough. Then, later morning some idiot decided to drive over the top of him in a yellow flag section tearing the ligament in his thumb in the process. Tyler is now going to have to miss this weekend's race and all hope of a good result for the championship are gone.

Well, onwards and upwards, we will be going along to support James Costin with his race and Tyler Fossey will be back for round 3 at Rowrah in May.

Team Orange race report for March 2022.

James and Tyler had the first round of the NKC championship at GYG on the 5th and 6th while Matt and Steve had FP4's first round at Clay Pigeon a week later.

GYG was a mixed bag. We had set ourselves the goal of both drivers finishing in the top 20. James started well with a 3rd in heat 1 and good results in heats 2 and 3. He qualified 22nd for the A final. After battling for the whole 10 minutes James managed to bring it home in19th place. Tyler struggled to find any consistency and was stuck in the mid pack for both heats 1 and 2. Heat 3 was going a lot better and may have seen Tyler sneak onto the back of the A final when a kart suddenly slowed in front of him. He mounted the slowing kart, twisting the chassis, and launched through the tyre wall, fracturing his ribs. He didn't make it out for the finals.

At Clay Pigeon FP4 had managed to muster a grid of 26 karts. Matt had a great first heat finishing in 6th before it started to go wrong in the following heats. Matt had still done enough to start the final in 17th, gaining 2 places to finish in 15th place at the flag. Steve, who couldn't even keep up last year, had some great battles and finished his heats in 17th, 18th and 19th. He started the final in 19th place, which is also where he finished.

Roll on April for round 2. NKC will be at clay pigeon on the 2/3, and FP4 will be at Lydd a week later.

Thanks to for providing the Rotax power.
