Gratitude.
Thanx to Martin who is in my mind like a magician.
I couldn’t recommend him enough, in fact I send anyone who needs a physio to him.
Every weird and wonderful injury I have had Martin has fixed.
He is always professional and explains what is going on with my injuries.
He also keeps me calm about what is going to happen and how I can work around my issues.

Small changes, big impact!

Fab work on the clean pull phase.
These pictures might not look like a huge difference however.
On the left we have:
Bent elbows during the pull and lazy looking triple extension
On the right we have:
Elbows loose (straighter but not contracted) and a much more effective triple extension.
These changes in the end when rehearsed multiple times will improve on the amount Katie can lift in her clean.
Don’t skip the changes you can make in your lighter working weeks, they are about perfecting the lift and are just if not more important than when you get up to higher intensities.

Injuries
So a few people may have noticed i’m not on the start list for English champs.
Training was going very well & I was hoping my numbers would be returning to pre baby Finn.
However I some how managed to compress a nerve in my neck.
This has caused immense pain leaving me lying on my back for a solid week in pain.
Recovery is slow & I am now in week 5 (I think) & I am still struggling with pain travelling down my arm.
The strangest thing is that I have no grip strength in my thumb.
At the moment I am very miserable BUT
I refuse to give up on my goals and as soon as I can play in the gym I WILL BE BACK!

How do I find my Start position?
Ive been seeing a few people lately starting with the their feet facing forwards!
It is great if you are flexible enough to do this HOWEVER,
Slightly turning your toes out can make the difference for you.
Allowing your toes to turn out, will allow you to open up your hips more,
This will allow your torso to fit better into between your knees,
It will allow your knees to externally rotate
When your knees are pressing out your glutes will switch on more effectively,
When your glutes are more efficient your drive will be stronger.

On Saturday we cut weight and maxed out!!
Katie had unexpected weight gain for her comp and was 2kg over the day before.
But guess what got her to weight and we managed to hit some PB’s in a lower weight class!!
The roller coaster of cuts and maxing out can sometimes be so far from what you imagine.
Your body and mind are amazing things,
TRUST THE PROCESS.

7kg bodyweight drop
3 months of blood, sweat and tears... all paid off in the end 🙌🏋‍♀️

Fingers crossed I am back in the gym very soon.
So here is finn cheering me up.
And realisation that injuries are only temporary.
