Each kettlebell exercise uses up to 600 muscles. Having said this, kettlebell training is based around movement patterns as well as just muscles. So, rather than training one area you would use large full body exercises like the swing, clean and press, sn**ch etc. When you use more muscles with every exercise you use more energy therefore burning more calories. This, with consistency, will increase your metabolic rate. The quicker and more demanding your metabolic rate the more calories you will burn in daily life.

What does this really mean? Strength and conditioning is to use exercise prescription to enhance athletic performance. Everybody has different goals and to really make those goals happen a one to one session would help.
What can we do together in a class? We can minimise the risk of injury, promote healthy joints and bones, increase overall fitness and most important in my personal opinion, improve our posture.

If you have hit a plateau, or you just feel like the spark is out with your usual routine, let me introduce you to a kettlebell. Kettlebells can be hugely challenging as long as you do it right. Come along on Wednesday mornings. If you are not quite ready for the full kettlebell experience you might prefer a circuit on Friday mornings to ease you in gently. Strength training is extremely beneficial for body composition, joint and bone health, metabolism and flexibility.
For most weighted moves you need two dumbbells, a barbell and plates etc. Of course, you can use two kettlebells but you only need one to get the same benefits.

If your workout was boring, you wouldn't keep doing it would you? Me neither. The challenge of using a kettlebell paired with the fact that its fun to swing heavy cavemen - like toys around makes them fun! You will be amazed at how much you will feel it over the next couple of days.
It is better to do one effective workout than five by just going through the motions.

Exercise can be hard work right? Sometimes you can get into a habit and before you know it you are simply going through the motions. You really can't do that with a kettlebell. You have to keep focused on your body by thinking about the muscles and moves you are working on. What you learn from a kettlebell session are skills that can be transferred to other forms of exercise. Join us on every Wednesday morning at 6 am or 7 am.
