The future of Julie Ridley Coaching!

I've been in my new job role for nearly 2 weeks and it was definitely the right decision (Yes i doubted quitting my PT work)

I've asked myself why I started BE FREE (the og name for my biz) and lots of topics came up that aren't about fitness, so at the moment I'm exploring what that might look like for me and excited to start sharing.

I am giving myself a few more months to settle down and let my brain do its magic and figure that out.

Podcast/You Tube will return soon and sports massage will be available from July.

For now, i will pop in when inspired and watch this space.

7 years ago I opened my PT studio because I believed women deserved a break from diet and fitness culture.

I set out to create a safe space for women to find their strength, to create health on their own terms and to just BE themselves.

I succeeded in that but now I am being called to do something bigger.

The problem is, I needed space to figure it out.

So today was my last day as a PT and the day my studio doors close.

There's been tears, frustration, anger and disappointment but I ended with excitement with whats next.

This decision did not come easy!

For now, I start a new job Tuesday for a mental health charity which is part time to give me the space to figure out whats next along side my new job.

This allows me to continue to share all the information I have stored in my brain without the pressure of running a buisness.

I always wanted to give women the stuff I know to help them feel good and happily do it for free.... this is how I do that without burning out and worrying about the bills 🤣

I wanted the joy brought back to the conversations I love to have, sharing information because I know it helps and I dont think it should be hidden behind expensive programs.

Ultimately though, I wanted my house to be my home again because my own wellbeing has suffered with the blurred lines between work and home.

So here's to whats next and to the bigger conversations to come.

For now, sports massage is my focus followed my injury rehabilitation.

My podcast and you tube will return soon and the topics list is rather big because womens lives isnt just about hormones and diets.... looking at the whole of our lives is what helps us feels good about who we are.

Watch this space 🥰

When the world has lost it's mind and as women our safety feels even more scary remember they don't get to win.

Let's hold each other up, let's stand side by side, let's use our voices to stand up for this s**t.

We as women, are not enemies of each other, let's have each others backs.

In my little corner of the world I will continue to hold you until you can stand tall with confidence.

Let's be a sisterhood and show that we will not shink to suit others.

Closing my books for new personal training client's has caused so much anxiety.

Is it the right decision to not grow it any more, what if im making a mistake. What if this new path doesn't workout.

All of this is fear, fear of failure and self doubt.

TLDR (skip to bottom)

Choosing a different path is scary.
Knowing one thing needs to stop so another can replace it but not knowing what the other thing is scary.

Someone said to me recently "you're in the void, yet comfortable and let it work itself out"

Yuck.... the control freak in me does not like that!

But sitting in the void, taking 2 weeks completely off work has helped me step out of that void, the unknowns of whats next.

My desire to have a bigger impact, to have more conversations, more connections has been the driving force for change.

For now, my work still revolves around diet culture because i think its what keeps women stuck and fuels our unworthiness, reducing our confidence and self trust....

i know we diet because we want those things but it actually takes us further away. 🤷‍♀️

I am working on a 10 week program, thats group work but still has 1:1 support but also is in peoples budgets.

I never wanted this information to be unaffordable because i think everyone should have access to it (hence why my menopause course is free).

The bigger vision is to have bigger, deeper conversations about all things impacting womens lives, especially as we appear to be going backwards in how women are being viewed and our rights.

So for now, watch this space while i take my own advice and find my small step forward on this new path.

I took some time away from all things, because the world is too much! who else feels that?

Navigating the world as it is right now can be hard at times, and taking time out to take care of you is so important. and if that means shutting it out for a while then so be it.

One of the things I have been thinking about in my own world is how I can have deeper conversations with women about how cultural and societies expectations impact us and how we can work through them to create the life that we want.

How can we as women live by our own rules and not the ones handed to us?
What does healthy look like for us, if we were the ones who decided?
Why are we doing what we are doing, where did it come from? and how can we do it differently?

So I am taking a different path to support women.

To create groups for women to gather, to share, to learn, to explore... to find who they are and what they want.

Talking about Women's health, Body Image, Relationship with Food, Menopause, Behaviour change/Mindset.

I will be share more about this new direction over the next week.

How do you process uncomfortable feelings?

I create stuff, usually art based either on canvas, decorate rooms or build something for the garden.
Sometimes i change my hair, get a tattoo or piercing - but those aren't helpful 🤣

I find being creative calms my mind enough to focus on what is uncomfortable for me8.

Behind the scenes here I've had lots of small but insightful aha moments for the last few months.

Knowing I'm ready for something new, bigger.
Desire more connections with people and a different kind of depth to my work and taking a different direction has been a process and it's uncomfortable to be brave enough to make a decision away from the normal and comfortable.

But when its time to try something different, do something different or make a tough decision for the benefit of you... its really important to have patience with the process because sometimes its tough emotionally... so much guilt, disappointment, sadness, confusion and distrust in decision making ability. Mixed with excitement, joy and that spark when you know you've found whats next.

But ultimately, you do know the path you need to take, its building up the bravery that takes time.

So here's to what ever comes next and i will definitely keep you updates.

😘 Julie Ridley Coaching isn't going anywhere... I have way too much to say 🤣 gently disrupting the rules, norms, expectations we have as women.

(I redecorated my kitchen today which is didn't know i was going to do until I took down the wallpaper - i dont know what my husband means when he says I'm impulsive.
Personally I think its a good quality, keeps life interesting 🤣... )

There’s something slightly uncomfortable about taking back control of your health.

Because if you’re the one driving… You also have to decide the route.

For years most of us have been handed the steering wheel by diets.
Meal plans.
Workout programs.
Food rules.
“Good” foods and “bad” foods.

And because those things were presented as the right way, we just followed them.
Even when they didn’t fit our lives.
Even when they felt impossible to sustain.
Even when they made us feel like we were constantly failing.

In this week’s episode I talk about the uncomfortable truth about taking back control of your health.
Not in a “try harder” way.
But in the quiet moment where you realise: This is my life. I get to decide how I take care of it.
No dramatic reset.
No perfect plan.

Just something that move you from the passenger seat back into the driver’s seat.
