🍎 HAF, heatwaves and holidays feel like a distant memory, but the Pedal Power team are back to business as usual: delivering Bikeability in schools.

Whether it's your child's first go without stabilisers or building the skills to ride on real roads, our qualified instructor team will be right there for every wobble and every breakthrough.

The team are always amazing at Monty's Bike Hub!

Rewind back to some more summer highlights! ☀️🚲

​Over the holidays, we ran 4 cycle skills and 'Learn to Ride' sessions for Southampton Holiday Activities & Food Programme, working with around 100 incredible kids. It was fantastic to see them either getting on a bike for the very first time or progressing up to Bikeability Level 1 standard!

​These sessions were a brilliant way to keep young people active, build confidence, and learn essential new skills. As always, a massive thank you to Pedal Power Training Ltd for partnering with us and running additional sessions across Southampton and Portsmouth.

Last summer, 600+ children joined us for HAF cycling sessions across Portsmouth and Southampton. This year, we're going even bigger — over 20 events across both cities, all summer long.

Even so, take-up of HAF places is often much lower than eligibility — only around 12% of eligible children actually use their place each holiday. That's a lot of children missing out on free activities, food, and — in our case — the chance to build real confidence on a bike.

What is HAF?
HAF stands for Holiday Activities and Food. It's a free programme that runs during the school holidays.

Children get to take part in fun activities and get a healthy meal too — all for free.

It's for children aged 5 to 16 who get free school meals. In Portsmouth it's called HAF Fun Pompey. In Southampton it's run by Southampton City Council.
