Not every piano lesson day includes a keytar… but today did! 😄
One of the kind grown-ups in our Dots & Squiggles Piano class brought in his much-loved keytar for a little show-and-tell after the children had been learning about and asking lots of questions about different instruments. Safe to say the excitement levels were high!
A huge thank you to Ava’s dad Dave Johnson for sharing it with us and letting the children see (and hear!) and try something a little different.
🎶 Fun keytar facts:
• A keytar is a keyboard you wear like a guitar so you can move around while playing.
• It became famous in the 1980s when bands wanted keyboard players to rock out on stage.
• Even though it looks different, the keys work just like a piano keyboard!
It can make lots of amazing sounds — from piano tones to funky synth sounds and spacey electronic effects, which the children loved hearing today!
Moments like this remind us that learning piano isn’t just about notes on a page — it’s about discovering the wider world of music, instruments, curiosity and creativity.
Who knows… maybe one of our little pianists will be the next great keytar superstar! 🎹⭐
