Today , ten of us set off in warm sunshine to walk from Pinkneys Green NT Car Park to Burchetts Green. On the way we passed the Beech Lodge Special Needs School, with Stubbings House in the distance. We then climbed gradually through woodland to reach Keepers Cottage. From there we changed direction through the woods and descended towards Knowl Hill. We had to navigate a field with an uneven surface with a herd of cattle in it. At Knowl Hill we had our 'Banana Break'.
We then walked through fields of Rapeseed to reach the village of Littlewick Green where a Cricket match was in progress. The village was home to the famous Welsh composer Ivor Novello in the early 20th Century. From there we walked along a Bridleway Circuit, and in the woods in the near distance, there was some Clay Pigeon shooting in progress. On reaching Cherry Garden Lane we passed the Woolley Firs Outdoor Education Centre for children which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. After walking through the Little Thicket, we crossed the A4, and then spent another twenty minutes or so, traversing the main Thicket large open space, to return to our Start Point. All agreed we had a lovely walk.
