Let's be completely honest with each other here.

If your fitness programme works beautifully from Monday morning to Friday afternoon, but completely disintegrates the moment the weekend arrives, you haven't failed. The programme has.

Most of the mainstream plans out there are pure fantasy fitness. They only work if your life is entirely predictable, sterile, and free from any actual human interaction. They expect you to pack your weekend into neat little plastic tubs and sit in the corner of a family barbecue like an unsociable vampire.

So you spend all week white-knuckling your way through the rules. You measure every drop of milk, you track every leaf of salad, and you treat a single biscuit like a live hand gr***de.

But human beings aren't built to live in a state of permanent, high-alert restriction.

By Saturday evening, the willpower tank hasn't just emptied, it has structurally imploded. You aren't just having a nice weekend meal anymore. Right, let's have a proper look at what actually happens when you decide to "be good" on a Monday morning.

You ban the carbs, lock the chocolate in the shed, and spend four days white-knuckling your way through the afternoon slump while your stomach screams louder than a petrol lawnmower. You’re trying your absolute hardest. You are following the punishing rules the fitness industry handed you, fully believing the old rubbish that if it doesn't hurt, it isn't working.

But by Friday night, the tank is completely empty.

You aren't a functioning adult anymore. You are a feral raccoon, standing over the kitchen sink at midnight, inhaling a block of mild cheddar and half a bottle of warm Pinot Grigio like it’s your last meal on earth.
