📢 Academy XI Match Result 📢
Goole Town’s Academy XI suffered a 141-run defeat against Beverley Town at Westfield on Sunday, despite a spirited effort from a young side in their final home fixture of the season.
Goole won the toss and elected to field first, making a promising start as Beverley were reduced to 66/4. Jack Everett, Mohammed Qayoum, Kanishka Randenithenne and Giles Jacklin each claimed a wicket to put the visitors under early pressure.
However, Beverley recovered through an unbeaten 68 from Cooper Moon and 50 retired not out from Oscar Fleming, before James Burton added 25 not out. The visitors eventually reached 215/4 from their 40 overs.
Kanishka Randenithenne was the pick of the Goole bowlers, returning excellent figures of 1/32 from his 10 overs. Jack Everett finished with 1/33, Giles Jacklin 1/47 and Mohammed Qayoum 1/27.
In reply, Goole found runs difficult to come by against a disciplined Beverley bowling attack. Jack Everett and Lincoln Morris both made 8, while Zac Matthews contributed 7. Samuel Rushby top scored with 17 from 24 balls, including two boundaries, and Kanishka Randenithenne added 8.
The Academy were eventually bowled out for 74 in 26.3 overs, with Beverley securing a 141-run victory.
Although it was a difficult afternoon, the match provided valuable experience for Goole’s young players, who continued to show commitment and determination throughout. Goole travel to Driffield next week for their final game of the season, looking to finish the campaign on a positive note
