Our first home match of the season saw us run rampant, putting seven past Beverley Town Reserves—and, to be honest, it could and probably should have been more!

It’s another three points on the board despite us having several players missing. We started really well but found ourselves 1–0 down after 10–15 minutes. Assistant manager Luke Caldwell quickly got a message onto the pitch and, from there, the rest was history.

Fair play to manager John Erwin, who missed the match because of yet another holiday. Yes, that’s right—he’s already missed half of our games this season! However, he still managed to get a squad together.

John had this to say:

“On Friday night, we only had 10 players. I wasn’t really that bothered because I was sunbathing in Turkey. Anyway, I apologised to former manager Jake Stannard for the incident at the Malt Shovel and begged him to play.”

Next week brings a much tougher test as we face unbeaten league leaders and title favourites Scullys.

Tomorrow, we welcome Beverley Town Reserves to our temporary home at West Park, while the Cricket Club pitch undergoes maintenance.

Beverley have played just once so far, taking all three points against South Cave in something of an upset. Goole will be looking to return to winning ways after picking up a point last weekend.

We tried speaking to manager John Erwin to get his thoughts… but unfortunately, he’s missing another game due to being on holiday. Just a reminder—the previous management team never missed games! 👀
