GOOLE UNITED AFC – PRE-SEASON 2026/27

Pre-season starts Tuesday 30th June at 6:15pm at Goole Cricket Club.

As the club continues to grow, we will be running two teams this season:

🔵 First Team – Competing in the Humber Premier League, the highest level available to the club.

⚫ Reserve Team – Competing in the ERCFL Championship following a well-earned promotion last season.

We are looking to strengthen both squads with new players ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

All new players are welcome to come along and test themselves. Whether you’re looking to play at a high level or work your way into one of our squads, we’d love to see what you can bring.

After our first season back in the Humber Premier League, we are looking to progress again next year and add quality to the squad. We play at a competitive level with a strong team spirit and ambitious management team.

In our final home game of the season, we shared the points with Reckitts, although the scoreline doesn’t quite tell the full story.

After conceding a poor goal in the first half, it took young Ronson Wheldrake coming off the bench to grab the equaliser. Top goalscorer Yates then headed home to put us in front, following quick thinking from goalkeeper Niall Barker and some great wing play from Lamming.

Unfortunately, the away side were awarded a last-minute penalty to sn**ch a point. A very strange decision, and one that summed up the referee’s performance throughout the game.

That said, despite the poor officiating costing us late on, we should have been well clear with the chances we created.

We now have one game left next week, away to 8th placed Hornsea.

It’s the penultimate game of the season and our final home fixture of the campaign. We welcome 7th-placed Reckitts AFC this afternoon.

We currently sit in 9th place, with both 7th and 8th still to play for. Two wins from our final games could see us climb as high as 7th, while the lowest we can finish is 12th.

Let’s get one last big home crowd down to West Park and get behind the lads on Goole turf!

What a result that was on Saturday against 5th place South Cave. A top performance all round sees us move up to 9th with just two games remaining.

The lads were miles better than the previous two games — intensity, quality, and work rate all there from the first whistle.

And then there’s things you don’t expect to see in life… like a sauna in someone’s bedroom — and even more surprising, Ben Tunbridge bagging a HAT TRICK! Yes, three goals on Saturday 👏

We’ve now got two big games left against 7th and 8th. Six points and we finish above both — it’s in our hands.

In the end, we were well beaten by Sculcoates, but on another day we could have been two or three goals ahead with the chances we created in the first half. Unfortunately, missed opportunities proved costly.

The game was effectively decided in the first eight minutes of the second half, with Scullys scoring two quick goals. All four goals conceded were disappointing and ones we’ll be frustrated with.

We go again tomorrow night as we welcome LIV Supplies. We’re back at the cricket club for our final home game there this season, the remaining 2 will be at West Park.
