Another commanding win for the lads over the weekend against Calder Grove Cricket Club to keep our title dreams alive. Now unbeaten in 5, as we end the season strong

The hosts won the toss & elected to field. They were rewarded with some tight early bowling and some assistance from a wicket which looked tricky to bat on early. Opener Glen Bott was patient & added 20 before he was dismissed.

The game looked in the hosts favour at 63/3, before Ash Shaw and Charlie Goose decided enough was enough. 63/3 very quickly became 169/4 as both dismantled the Calder attack with a brutal 106 partnership. Shaw compiled a rapid 84 from 63 balls, featuring 15 boundaries and striking at 133.

Goose continued to motor along with Skipper Scott Tyson, the pair adding another 38 as Charlie brought up his maiden half century for the Eagles. He eventually finished on 52*, with 9 classy boundaries and was ably supported by Tyson on 9*.

The Boro innings eventually finished on 207/4 from our 40 and delivering maximum batting points.

The Eagles wasted no time with the ball in response, as Kris Cooper ripped through the top order with the score 8-5. He finished on 4/19 from is 6 and was unlucky not to find another 5 for. The hosts found some resistance for the 6th wicket with the score 51/6.

Callum Maxwell & Liam Longfield both nipped in with a wicket each, before the skipper Scott Tyson wasted no time in dismantling the lower order as 51/6 soon came 70 all out, as he found figures of 4/9 from his 5.1 overs.

Ash Shaw was deserved man of the match for his 19th half century in Boro colours.

We go again this Saturday against Allerton Bywater, with minimum 3rd place in the bag and a slim chance of the title!

We also are glad to see umpire Richard Podolak is now fighting fit after giving us all a scare mid way through the innings. Speedy recovery mate!

The Eagles maintained their rich run of form as we made it four games unbeaten against top side Ryhill & Havercroft Cricket Club

On a horrible day in North Yorkshire and with the only game in the division without an allocated umpire, both teams were determined to get a game on.

Skipper Scott Tyson won the toss and unsurprisingly elected to field. The visitors grafted hard and were rewarded with a gritty opening partnership of 55. Dan Wright, Kris Cooper and Brad Brown all toiled hard with the ball and were unlucky to go wicketless between them. The boys backed them up in the field, with 5 maidens between them and only 40 runs across their combined 18 overs.

It was the skipper who eventually found the breakthrough, as wickets tumbled at regular intervals from there on in. He found solid figures of 2/23 from his 7 and was ably supported by Marcus Atkinson who found some pace and returned 2/21 from his 7. Dan Wright backed him up with another one handed stunner at cover.

Liam Gale came back for another spell and found a couple of wickets as he finished 2/26 from his 8. The visitors innings eventually ending on 122/6 from their 40.

The Boro response started shakily with the boys on the rack at 24/3. Ash Shaw delivered a handy 15, and Dan Wright 21, with the game in the balance at 59/4.

It was however a match saving partnership of 47 from Cam Cooper and Charlie Goose which took the game away from the visitors. Goose delivered a classy 41 from 62 balls, featuring 7 fours. Cam Cooper finished 26* from 29 balls and brought the game home with Marcus Atkinson (7*), with 4 wickets and just short of 7 overs spare.

Charlie Goose was MOM for a classy effort with the bat.

With some rain affected games over the weekend, there’s only 10 points between 1st and ourselves in 3rd as we head into the last two. Could the title still be ours?
