Hospitality starts with listening.

A good stay is not one-size-fits-all. Arrival times, mobility requirements and the amount of help people want can all be different.

The Barn is accessible for guests with mobility challenges, and we encourage a conversation before booking so we can explain the facilities honestly.

What information helps you feel confident before choosing accommodation?

October half-term with room to spread out.

Half-term is much easier when everyone has enough space. Depending on availability, guests can book individual en-suite rooms or discuss taking the whole Barn, which can work especially well for multi-generational families who want private bedrooms and time together around one table.

With Island attractions, countryside and the coast within reach, you can keep the week flexible. If half-term is on your mind, now is a good time to ask what is available.

Ventnor Botanic Garden makes a relaxed September outing, especially when combined with a walk through Ventnor and time beside the sea.

The planting and sheltered setting give the area a distinctive feel.

Check seasonal hours before visiting. Are you the person who reads every plant label, takes photographs or simply finds a bench and enjoys the view?

September bed and breakfast?

September is ideal for guests who enjoy the Island after the busiest school-holiday weeks.

Book an individual en-suite room, start the day with breakfast and spend your time walking, exploring or visiting friends. There is no need to stock a self-catering kitchen and no pressure to fill every hour.

Ask us about suitable September dates.

Looking ahead to summer 2027?

Thank you to everyone staying with us. If you missed out, or you already know that next summer needs to fit around school holidays, family visits or an Island event, our 2027 diary is worth thinking about now.

The Barn can work as individual en-suite rooms or as a whole-property stay for a group, subject to availability. What would bring you to the Island next summer - a celebration, a family break, walking, the coast or simply time away?

Ryde's main carnival takes place on 3 September, followed by the illuminated procession on 5 September.

It brings colour, music and community energy to the town, while the Barn offers a calm place to return to afterwards.

Which appeals more to you: the buzz of the main parade or the lights and atmosphere of the evening procession?

There’s something special about this time of year on the Island. The summer crowds begin to soften, but the sea can still feel beautifully warm.

If you’re looking for a lovely coastal outing during your stay, Totland Bay is a wonderful choice. It’s a great spot for a swim, a gentle wander along the shore, or simply sitting back and soaking up the view. On a calm day, it’s the kind of place that makes you want to slow down and stay a little longer.

If you time it right, you can also stay on to watch the sunset, which is often absolutely stunning from Totland Bay. It’s a simple pleasure, but one that feels very memorable.

Have you had a late-summer sea swim yet, or are you more of a sunset-on-the-beach person?
