‘I have been going to Lucy’s post natal classes since January this year and they have been amazing for my recovery. I can take my baby and she’s so patient with the all the babies and is so encouraging of the mums. Everyone is at different stages of recovery and Lucy offers specific exercises based on where everybody is. I can’t recommend these classes enough. So good, thanks Lucy!’⁣

The classes at Well & Good are PAYG so they give you the flexibility to drop in whenever you feel up to it 🙌 with or without your tiny one. Hope to see some of you soon x

Happy New Year 😊 I’m still teaching my regular Postnatal Pilates class at .co.uk studios in Godalming from 10.30am-11.30am on Wednesday mornings. Babies very welcome 💕 I love teaching this class - it’s a gentle session for new Mums that focuses on rebuilding core strength after having a baby while providing a much needed (and well deserved!) hour to focus on you! ⁣

I’m also doing private sessions - 1-2-1 & 1-2-2 - at my little home studio in Farncombe on weekday evenings. I specialise in pregnant and postnatal clients, so if you have recently had a baby or are pregnant and fancy some private pilates sessions, I can help. ⁣

Postnatal Pilates is moving to the new time of 10.30am. If you’ve recently had a baby and want to do some gentle exercise, this may well be the class for you!

Postnatal Pilates will now be every Wednesday at 10:30-11:30 👶

Taught by the lovely and hugely experienced , if you’ve had a baby in the last year (or more!), I couldn’t recommend her class more. I took it after having my second child and it really helped me feel more ‘me’.

Lucy will help you reconnect with your body and work on your core, mobility, flexibility, strength and alignment - all of which will have been altered during pregnancy and in the postnatal period.

You can bring your baby (or not!), spend an hour focussing on you and meet some other new mums in a fun and supportive environment. Sounds pretty good, right?

I’m really excited to be starting face to face postnatal classes again! 🥳😀⁣

Join me with (or without!) your baby on Wednesday mornings at Be Well Good in Godalming for a gentle re-introduction to exercise. ⁣

My classes don’t focus on 'bouncing back' quickly, but instead provide an hour for YOU, to focus on your healing and recovery. ⁣

Classes will be kept small (max 6) and focus on postnatal safe exercises that will help to heal your body after pregnancy and birth. ⁣

Using safe, effective Pilates movements you will reconnect with your body and challenge your core, mobility, flexibility, strength and alignment - all of which will have been altered during pregnancy and in the postnatal period!⁣

You need to have had your 6 week check with your GP before joining this class. No prior experience of Pilates is needed. I can’t wait to see some of you soon 😊⁣

Booking for my face to face (!!) postnatal pilates class is now LIVE through well & good.

Join me (with or without your baby) from the 19th May for a gentle re-introduction to exercise.

Classes will be kept small (max 6) and focus on postnatal safe exercises that will help the body heal after pregnancy and birth. I will work with you to re-develop core strength, improve the pelvic floor, posture awareness, breathing exercises and to encourage general mobility.

If you would like to join a class you must have had your six week check with the GP and been cleared to exercise.

I feel SO very aware that I’ve been radio silent on here for a few months now. I was naively (!) hoping to begin my return from maternity leave after Christmas, start a couple of online and studio classes and finish some further postnatal study including the pregnancy and postpartum course (🙌). ⁣

But instead I am homeschooling fulltime with a baby in tow, breastfeeding while doing ‘letters and sounds’ with my eldest and trying to remember Zoom calls amongst the chaos 😂 As any Mum knows only too well, keeping their child/ren entertained through the day without any in person social contact outside of their family is pretty full on!⁣

Anyway, I haven’t disappeared entirely, I am still here and wishing I could do more, start work again (online at least!) and continue teaching my lovely clients. But right now there is only so much time in the day, so my little business will remain on hold for now, while I put my family and my wellbeing first. ⁣

I hope everyone is keeping safe and managing to stay sain. Thanks for all the kind messages from clients and prospective clients. Please do keep in touch and I hope to see you on the mat again soon 🙏🙏😊⁣

** Shoulder and mid back stiffness after baby⁣ **

If you struggle with aches and pains after having a baby then I am with you! It is gruelling on your body and even with the best of intentions and regular targeted exercise like Pilates, my body still struggles. ⁣

I’ve really been suffering with shoulder and mid back stiffness after little one had a growth spurt recently and suddenly became rather heavy 😳 ⁣

So I have been using this short series (on my lounge floor, not very instagram-able soz) to encourage functional movement of the shoulders and mid back, counteracting the ongoing effects of the feeding hunch and all the carry new Mums do! I like to do this set alongside some rotation such as Waist Twists (will post more on this later!)⁣

This video shows that at 5 months postnatal my movement is pretty restricted after months of breastfeeding and carrying (I struggle to get my forearms parallel to the floor without my ribs coming away from the mat and instead my wrists have gone floppy 😱) so my own practice is very much a work in progress.⁣

This series includes:⁣

❇️ Ribcage closure ⁣
❇️ Chicken wings⁣
❇️ Windows⁣
❇️ Chest expansion ⁣

Remember to maintain your neutral spine throughout with pelvis level, ribs heavy and chin parallel to the floor. The aim is not to get the arms to the floor but to encourage a good range of movement without losing your alignment (pelvis, ribs, head!) ⁣

⁣Video is sped up! Go slowly and try 8-10 reps of each if you can. I wouldn’t recommend this if you are early postnatal - wait until you are 6 weeks (or 12 for csect) unless guided otherwise by your physio.
