She has as strong focus on the precision of movement and her classes are varied, challenging and informative but more importantly they are fun and condu

cted in a friendly environment. With the incorporation of anatomical cues, Jo encourages clients to broaden their awareness of posture and improve upon strength and flexibility. She offers variations on all exercises to accommodate mixed abilities and experience, so everyone can benefit and progress. She started practicing Pilates around ten years ago in order to help with issues in her back after long days working at a desk on a computer. By improving her posture and inner strength she discovered a new love for her body and a life long interest in the effectiveness of correct movement; her aim is for her clients to gain the same benefits. Jo is a registered teacher with the Body Control Pilates School in London, founded by Lynne Robinson, and has completed additional specialist training in pre and post-natal Pilates. She continues to focus on specialisms such as bone health, back care and improved fitness and attends regular teaching training sessions in and around London. Jo is also a qualified Nutritional Therapist with a BSc from the University of Westminster and is a registered member of the professional bodies BANT and CNHC. She has additional qualifications in anatomy and physiology, is fully insured and is a registered first aider. Class Descriptions:
Pilates – Beginners
This is a fun and friendly class for those new to Pilates or looking to refine some of the basic techniques. All the principals of Pilates are incorporated into the class including working on core strength, alignment and breathing. Although this is a class for beginners it far from boring or lacking any challenges. It is a great start for anyone looking to improve posture and gain core strength. Small equipment such as bands and small balls are sometimes used to help engage with core stability and add some variation. Pilates – Mixed Ability
This class is suitable for those with some Pilates experience and the key principles of core strength, alignment and breathing. Each class is designed so that everyone can progress and benefit from building upon strength and stamina whilst also improving posture and technique. Small equipment such as bands, small balls or Pilates rings may be used to challenge stability and add further variation.

⭐️ Getting excited and ready for the upcoming reformer course with hosted at ⭐️

I am loving the view from our new garden room. There was a lot of discussion about whether to get a skylight or not but now I have space to play and learn on the reformer I feel very fortunate to have this view of above.

This room also means we have somewhere to work in natural daylight, which is an absolute boost for mental health 🌳 We couldn’t have done it without the help from my wonderful in-laws, thank you Jack and Stella ❤️

My Pilates and nutrition journey is constantly unfolding. Since my distant updates on social media I have completed the RTP university module at ION so I can return to a Full Nutrition Practioner with BANT (instead of non-practicing while having the kids). I also completed and thoroughly enjoyed the Drug Nutrient Interaction course with Debbie Grayson , I highly recommend it to any other NTs, Debbie is amazing and I look forward to doing more of her courses in the future.

Balancing everything with a busy family is not easy but I am grateful every day for where I am and what I am aiming for. See you on the reformer!

Did you know that Marilyn Monroe's favourite form of exercise was Pilates? She definitely brought glamour to the Pilates repertoire and always did it in style.

This week I have a special offer for £10 drop in Pilates classes available so if you have missed Pilates as much as I have over Easter or if you have wanted to give Pilates a go but not sure about committing to a course of classes then this is ideal for you.

I have spaces available Monday evening at St Mary's Church in Shalford and Tuesday morning at The Godalming Lawn Tennis Club, which is just behind the leisure centre.

All you will need to do a complete a five minute health questionnaire and get comfy in your leggings then join us. All props are provided and I have some spare mats for anyone who needs them. Spaces are limited to ten people per class.

Wow it's already 2024! As a New Year gift I am offering 10% off all my courses. Tuesday 10:00 is already FULL but there are spaces in my other classes so if your New Year's resolution is to take care of your body with a 'healthy back and fit body' then Pilates is for you!

This block of classes is five weeks long so perfect for anyone wanting to try Pilates with me. The £10 taster classes are still available with prior booking.

Monday evenings we are at St Mary's Church in Shalford and Tuesday and Thursday mornings are at Godalming Lawn Tennis Club on Summers Road, Farncombe.

The Restorative classes are suitable for anyone with injuries or back problems, as in all my classes we work on central strength and balance but without any loaded flexion on the spine. This doesn't mean you miss out an anything as we are very creative with our Pilates props.

If you are interested in finding out more or signing up for a taster class just get in touch. Spaces are limited so booking is essential.

The little pause between Christmas and New Year is one of my favourite times. It’s the breath after the madness and fun of festive celebrations. The kids have loved it this year and they all took part in the build up with various activities and singalongs.

Here they are holding up Pilates props for a post I never got time for before the holidays.

Restorative Pilates - Thursday special offer!

Thursday classes currently have 10% off and we also have special offers for any new drop in clients so this is a great time to come and try Pilates at a local venue.

What is Restorative Pilates?

Like all of my classes, in Restorative Pilates we aim to move every joint in the body with a series of Pilates exercises, aiming to lengthen muscles and ligaments while also strengthening joints.

The Restorative Pilates class enables clients to achieve the benefits of Pilates but without any compromise to injuries or back problems. In this class we do not include any movements which which can put additional pressures on the spine or ligaments which may be weakened for any reason. That doesn't mean that the classes are super easy or boring, there is lots of variety and a healthy dose of connecting the body, breath and focus.

The exercises are also suitable for beginners, post-natal clients and anyone looking to rehabilitate from injuries.

I have a real passion for the precision of movement and a great deal of experience helping clients of any age and any ability. Every class is varied and we often use props to help us find a nice connection to Pilates and the benefits that good movement can provide us.

We will be at the Godalming Lawn Tennis Club, on Summers Road. Come along and give it a try.

September Pilates offers!

The new half term of classes starts tomorrow on Monday 11th September and runs for six weeks. I am certainly ready to dust off my leggings and get teaching again!

You can now find us at St Mary's Church in Shalford on a Monday evening and as an introductory offer there is 20% off for anyone signing up to the Monday 6.45pm course. All the other classes remain at the Godalming Lawn Tennis Club and I also have a couple of sessions available for private one-to-ones or duets.

Any new comers are welcome to £10 taster sessions to any of the classes and any current clients are welcome to welcome to bring a friend for free! It's going to be a busy month but there's lots of opportunity to make some time on the Pilates mat.

If you're feeling like the summer holidays involved a bit too much relaxing and not enough stretching and strengthening then get in touch for a taster session. Everyone is welcome.

Restorative Pilates is suitable for either beginners or anyone with injuries, diastasis recti or back pain; this is a lovely class with a focus on mobility, stretching and core strengthening without loaded flexion (no sit ups or pressure on the spine). I have been absent on social media for a while now, partly on purpose as life has been so busy and I wanted to take a back seat to observe the world go round. Leaving Twitter has been the best decision but I love seeing photos and videos on Instagram and Facebook so will remain on those platforms.

The busiest parts of my life are our three children and now they are all starting new schools or childcare settings I have a mixture of joy for more freedom and a mourning because they are away and I have more freedom, does the parenting balance ever get easier?

We have had an amazing summer together and all routines went out of the window while we explored many adventures.

Although settling into our new timetables will take a little bit of getting used to, we are looking forward to it and I am looking forward to teaching Pilates again this coming week.

I am also giving myself time to study and in the beginning of 2024, I will start my return to a career in nutrition with some new qualifications and a focus on a few specialisms. My long-term plan of combining Pilates and nutrition will soon be coming together.

In the meantime, enjoy the last days of sunshine and see you all soon.

⭐️ £10 Pilates taster sessions available for the next couple of weeks ⭐️

Are you ready to try Pilates? Have you heard of the benefits but wondering what the exercises feel like? Recommended by physios and clinicians, Pilates is a series of exercises designed to strengthen core muscles and ligaments while promoting good posture and joint health 💪🏼

There are spaces available in the £10 taster sessions on Thursday 11th May and Thursday 18th May 2023 at 7pm for anyone wanting to try Pilates or who would like some extra practice. Spaces are limited and are also available to current clients so please get in touch to book.

Classes are mixed ability and suitable for anyone with any level of experience, including beginners. Everyone is welcome! All props can be provided so you'll need yourself and a mat if you have one.

We will be at the Godalming Lawn Tennis Club, which is just behind the leisure centre on Summers Road.

You'll need to reserve a space and complete a health questionnaire beforehand. If you have any questions or would like more information please just get in touch.
