We are currently looking for new players for Godalming Town vets football team ( over 35s ) . Training is weds nights 7-8 pm at Surrey sports park and we play every other week in Farnham and district league division 2 on a Sunday morning . Home games played at Godalming Town Football Club . Another tight game that didn’t go our way today .
Once again with 13 players unavailable the team gave everything and another day we win this one .
Getting promoted the first thing iv noticed is not the standard of players .. it’s the fitness and organisation that Is that slight bit better and the games are all tighter .
We are immensely stretched at moment but I cannot be prouder of the boys again . We have defenders playing in midfield and 5/6 starters all unavailable .
So it’s tough at moment And fine margins are certain decisions at key moments are killing us ( we won’t talk about the ref today as il get another ban and fine 👀🤦‍♀️)
1-0 down we got back to 1-1 with rob stagg getting his 4th goal in 4 games .
2-1 down early in 2nd half an absolute worldie free kick from our talisman , Darren wheeler ( playing on one leg to help us out )
We were then amazingly 3-2 up with Wesley power getting a deserved goal .
Then an extremely harsh penalty was given to Bourne blades with even their own players saying .. never a pen .
3-3 . Then a free kick late on gave them the points .
Draw was prob a fair result but fine Margins in a higher league .
We go again in 2 weeks . 🙌👍🤘🟡⚫️

RUNWICK CUP 3rd Round

Woking vets 5

Godalming town vets 1

No semi final appearance this year as we bowed out to a very good premier league side woking vets ( we lost last season semi final to them also )
With 13 players unavailable ( yes 13 👀🤦‍♀️) we battled valiantly going in just 1-0 down at half time and could have been level or in front on another day .
At 70 mins the score was 2-1 to Woking with Rob Stagg scoring his 3rd goal in last 3 games but heavy legs and wokings clinical finishing ( very good going forward ) we ran out of steam and after lots of changes conceded 3 late goals .
Congratulations to Woking in the next round , deserved winners but on another day it could have gone in our favour .
We now concentrate on 4 league games in 5 weeks . We go again . Well done to all those that played today . Great effort by all 🟡⚫️👏🏻👊🏻🙌
Only our 4th loss in 2 seasons so all positives moving forward 🙏

COMPLETE VETS - 2

After last weeks 4-3 cup win we went into our 2nd league game v top of the table complete vets . Powering into a 2 goal lead through Simon Boxall and Neil Tucker , followed by finishes from Darren Wheeler and Lee grainger to go in at half time 4-1 up . Second half goals from Darren wheeler , Rob Stagg , Ben Pierre sealed the win and 3 big points 🙌

2 wins on the spin . Up the gsss 🟡⚫️

In only our 2nd game this season due to weather / cancellations we beat a tough old Salesian’s team ( who we had drew with twice last season )
Going 1-0 down early , Neil Tucker scored a screamer from 20 yards to equalise , followed up by a back post finish by Rob stagg . Darren wheeler then scored a free kick to go in 3-1 up at half time .
Old Salesian’s scored a late 2nd but we held on to go through to the next round to continue last seasons run to a quarter and semi final in 2 cups .
Well done boys .. back to the league next game

Today we played old wimbledonians ( league winners of div 3 , the league we have got promoted to , so a tough test ) In extreme heat and with 8 first team players unavailable we put in a great shift but lost 7-4 .

With only one sub ( used early ) in this heat , a great effort from the lads .
3-3 at half time . But the heat was a massive factor and no subs added the pressure .
Only our 2nd loss in last 14 months , so we aren’t used to losing but sometimes it’s a good thing .

Well done to those who played . We go again in 2 weeks v AFC FARNHAM

Great effort today by godalming town vets at Guildford city tournament , won our group . lost on sudden death pens in quarter finals . Great for fitness for season ahead in this heat . 3 wins 2 draws 🙌👏🏻🤟
