More than ever it seems appropriate to be growing food in our own back yard. Pickling and freezing our summer glut for the winter and becoming less reliant on the government and supermarkets seems like a very good idea.

Its time to plan the tunnels for winter crops. If you have a tunnel with a thermic cover you can grow crops right through the winter. We have have our first batch of winter salad leaves ready to go in the ground, , the water cress, a very popular crop in the shop is planted. The winter brocolli is looking well established and the spinach is ready to be planted. Its a myth that you have missed the growing season, if you are thinking of a tunnel for next spring, then jump at the chance, buy one now and get some crops planted. If predictions are right, fresh food could be expensive this winter and in short supply.

A big thank you to Polytunnel Installation Services Wales who have installed a new tunnel for a customer who lost their tunnel due to unprecedented snow fall caused by a Pembrokeshire Dangler last November. Insurance claims and a few hiccups along the way but finally today we have a very pleased customer. Installed to the expected high standard with a drum tight finish on the polythene.

Thanks to Chris and his diligence with the watering we have some beautiful runner beans.
Well OK...thanks to the bees too for pollination.
If you need any help rigging up an irrigation system for your tunnel or plot, give us a call. The lack of rain is very concerning, we need to be thinking ahead for next summer and assuming this is how its going to be from now on.

The blueberries have been prolific this year, our best year ever. We have picked over 120 kilo from 36 bushes. Fully protected by polytunnel hoops and bird net. We have taken a regular supply to Glebelands Market Garden Ltd
