πŸ€” WHO IS YOUR CHILD COPYING?

Children become like the people they spend time with.

That's why confidence, character, and positive role models matter so much.

We've just published a new blog answering a question many parents ask:

πŸ‘‰ How do I stop my child from copying bad behaviour in school?

Did you know that communication is about so much more than just the words we say?

Studies suggest that:
πŸ‘€ 53% of communication comes from body language
πŸŽ™οΈ 40% comes from tone of voice
πŸ—£οΈ And only 7% comes from the actual words we use

That's pretty incredible when you think about it! Most of us assume that talking is the biggest part of communication, but the reality is that how we say something and the signals we give off with our body can have a much bigger impact.

So next time you're having a conversation, don't just listen to the words. Pay attention to the tone of voice and observe body language too. Are they excited? Sad? Nervous? Tired? Understanding these cues can help us become better communicators, listeners, leaders, and martial artists.

At KICX, we teach our students that great communication starts with great listening.

πŸ€” WHO IS MY CHILD BECOMING?

Most activities teach children what to do. Very few teach children who to become.

That's why we've created The Champions Journey.
A simple roadmap that helps children grow from:

πŸ”΄ "You do it for me"
to
πŸ”΅ "I can do it myself"
to
🟒 "We can do it better together"

Along the way they learn:

⭐ Strong values
⭐ Responsibility
⭐ Goal setting
⭐ Listening
⭐ Teamwork
⭐ Wellbeing

And because we teach it through martial arts, the lessons are fun, practical, and memorable.

πŸ₯‹ Martial arts gives children self protection skills on the outside. It also MAKES SURE they are having fun!

⭐ Champions Character helps them understand how to use those skills, so they can protect themselves on the INSIDE!
Take a look at our new Champions Journey graphic and let us know...

πŸ‘‡ Which part do you think is most important for children to learn today?

β€οΈπŸ‘‡ Looking at The Champions Journey, which lesson do you think children need most today?

⭐ Paradigms (How they see themselves)
⭐ Principles (Values and character)
⭐ Choice (Taking responsibility)
⭐ Targets (Goal setting)
⭐ Prioritise (Focusing on what matters)
⭐ Honour (Respect and integrity)
⭐ Listen (Communication skills)
⭐ Team (Working together)
⭐ Wellbeing (Body, Mind, Heart & Soul)

🎯 DAY 2 – CHAMPIONS LISTEN FIRST

This week in our Champions Character schools, we're working on one of the most important habits a child can learn:

πŸ‘‚ Champions Listen First.

In today's video, Stephen Covey shares a powerful story about a pair of glasses.

The glasses worked perfectly for the person wearing them, so naturally they assumed they would work for someone else too.

When they didn't work, he encouraged the other person to try harder.

Then he used logic.

Then emotion.

Then guilt.

At one point he even talked about how expensive the glasses were and the pain her mother went through to bring her into the world!

Of course, none of it worked.

Why?

Because the problem wasn't effort.

The problem wasn't attitude.

The problem wasn't motivation.

The problem was that they weren't her glasses.

Covey's point is simple:

If we don't understand the problem, we can't provide the solution.

And that's why we dedicate an entire week to this habit.

So many arguments between children start because nobody is really listening.

So many friendship problems happen because children are trying to be understood before they have understood the other person.

The ability to stop, listen, and genuinely seek to understand another person's point of view is one of the most valuable life skills a child can develop.

It helps them become better friends.

Better teammates.

Better students.

And one day, better husbands, wives, parents, leaders, and employees.

That's why we don't just teach kicks and punches.

We use martial arts to teach what is really important.

Life skills first. Martial arts second.

πŸ₯‹ And because we're on Week 35, the martial arts skill this week is the Spinning Hook Kick.

Now that's a great way to learn listening skills!

A fantastic class today with our students working on their moves and having a go at the Spinning Hook Kick! πŸ₯‹πŸ”₯

This is such a fun technique to learn, and it was great to see everyone really listening, focusing, and taking on the coaching points. Once they understood the mechanics of the kick, they did an amazing job and their confidence grew with every attempt!

We love seeing our students challenge themselves, work hard, and enjoy their training at the same time. Well done to everyone who trained today – you should all be proud of yourselves! πŸ‘πŸ’ͺ

Keep up the great work and keep pushing yourselves to improve. See you all at the next class! πŸ₯‹πŸ‘Š

πŸŽ₯ **CHAMPIONS LISTEN FIRST**

This week in our Champions Character classes, we're working on **Champions Listen First**.

The interesting thing is that listening isn't just a skill for children. It's a skill that some of the most successful adults in the world spend their lives trying to master.

Stephen Covey taught that one of the biggest problems in communication is that most people listen to reply, not to understand.

Think about that for a moment.

If listening is that important for adults, surely it's essential for children.

But here's the challenge...

If we sat children in rows of chairs and gave them a seminar on listening, would they learn it?

Probably not.

That's why we use martial arts to teach what is really important.

Life skills first. Martial arts second.

Every lesson gives children the opportunity to practise listening with their ears, eyes, body, and heart. They learn to focus, follow instructions, work with partners, and understand others.

And because they're having fun, they don't even realise how much they're learning.

Oh, and because we're on **Week 35**, the martial arts skill this week is...

πŸ₯‹ **The Spinning Hook Kick!**

Now come on...

That just sounds fun! πŸ˜„

So while the children think they're learning an awesome kick, they're also developing one of the most important life skills they'll ever need:

The ability to listen first

Most people listen with the intent to reply, rather than with the intent to understand. Too often, we're just waiting for our turn to speak instead of truly hearing what someone is trying to say.

Here at KICX, we teach our students the importance of empathetic listeningβ€”taking the time to understand another person's thoughts, feelings, and perspective before responding. This skill is essential not only for martial arts training and effective learning, but also for building strong relationships, developing confidence, and improving communication in everyday life.

When we learn to listen to understand, we create stronger connections, show respect to others, and become better leaders both on and off the mats.

⏰ What Is Your Time Worth? ⏰

I was listening to an old Jim Rohn clip today, and one thing he said really stood out.

He said:

πŸ‘‰ *"Time is more valuable than money."*

Because you can always earn more money.

But you can never earn more time.

Once a day is gone, it's gone forever.

That got me thinking...

When parents bring their children to our academy, yes, they're investing money into lessons.

But the bigger investment is something far more valuable.

❀️ Their time.

Every lesson means a family has chosen to spend part of their day with us.

A piece of their week.

A piece of their life.

And I never take that responsibility lightly.

That's why I believe what we do has to be about much more than kicks, punches and belts.

Of course, the children learn martial arts.

πŸ₯‹ They learn to kick.

πŸ₯‹ They learn to punch.

πŸ₯‹ They learn self-defence skills.

But that's only part of the story.

What I'm really interested in is helping children become the best version of themselves.

⭐ More confident.

⭐ More focused.

⭐ More resilient.

⭐ Better listeners.

⭐ More responsible.

⭐ Better equipped for life.

That's why we have take-home activities.

That's why we've developed the Champions Character programme.

Because if a family is going to trust us with a portion of their most valuable asset β€” their time β€” then we need to make sure they're getting far more than a martial arts lesson.

We need to make sure they're getting life lessons.

So whatever you're doing today, ask yourself:

❓ Are you getting your money's worth?

But perhaps more importantly...

❓ Are you getting your time's worth?

Because time is the one thing we can never get back.
