Body Fat V Lipedema……… historically little was known about Lipedema with a medical diagnosis of ‘you’re just over weight’, fortunately it is now recognised as a genetic, progressive, chronic condition which has 4 stages. I am stage two. There is no cure, just management and for some, surgery is an option.
So why would I post this? Well, having thought about it for a while, to the Lippy Ladies amongst us, who bruise easily often for no reason, our legs are heavy and they can be painful and for me, asthetically unpleasing. I have always exercised and it’s like wearing heavy boots when running, however the mental pay off of running or exercising is worth it. Eating healthy is my norm, I’m not over weight but despite my healthy choices it confirms there is no cure to Lipoedema as my legs have always looked the same and my cankles have determined my footwear!
Despite having Lipoedema, my legs have got me back on my feet when I have fallen, they have completed many sporting challenges and as a Fitness Trainer of over 30 years, I haven’t let it define me. So from one Lippy Lady to another, do your best to keep moving, do your best to eat healthily and keep your *visceral fat levels down (*fat around our organs).
